Well sorry for making another post AGAIN.. but I just got my car back from the dealer about the brakes (and tinted the windows).... and the guy told me that if the build date was before January 2004 there WAS a problem with the front and rear PADS and they would eat up the rotors... but January and after are actually good.... I did notice that all the mazdas they had in the lot (RX-8's, other 3's and other 6's) all had the same grooves on the rotors...

Just thought I would let you guys know

So does that mean there will be a TSB and we (build dates prior to Jan) get our brakes and pads replaced?

5500miles of wear would be nice to have replaced ;) BTW, I saw the same grooves on RX8's, 6's, 3's, but the Tributes and MPVs didn't have them (though there were only like 2 of the later models).

Mines is also a january.. i got grooves but they are not that bad nothing like some of the pictures i have seen on this board... and yes if you have pre-january cars then they HAVE to replace pads, and rotors depending on how bad they are (this is what the mechanic told me). I dont get that much brake dust from mines anymore after the first 500 miles, they still have more brake dust then the fronts but not too much more.

You should sell those rotors! Claim that they are some new 'slotted rotor' designed to aid in cooling. Put them in the Buy/Sell category and give those guys looking for drilled rotors something similar, but for half the price!

Seriously though, go to your dealership and get those changed, it looks like you may have gotten the diamond-tip brake pads.
