I bought the AWR 70 durometer engine mount, and installed it today. It deffinantly feels different, in a good way... at idle you can deffinantly feel the added stiffness, but while you are cruising, you don't really notice it at all.

I havn't had much time to test it out yet, because right after i installed it, i went to disneyland...

but yea...

i just gotta check one thing on it though, because after i installed it, i was at a light and kinda launched a bit and there was no wheel hop it all... just wheel spin, and then there was this kinda loud pop... Im not sure what it was, but the car seemed to be driving fine, and everything sounds fine... but we will see...


install was too bad... i does take a decent amount of effort getting the danged things in and out... i suppose it took me around 30-45 min...i didn't time myself. Deff do this mod if you have 90 bucks to spend...

I get the insanely loud pop when the traction control cuts in during a big spin. Never really did this in the winter. BUt in the fall before the first snow and in the spring during the melth I have had this occur again. THis can be very loud and unnerving. I dont know enough to single it out as the DSC or TC or LSD. But the TC(car with skids) light comes on when it happens. You may miss it, cause during a launch you are probably watching the road. It is also when I dont get wheel hop that this occurs.


Im going to start sourcing out Transaxles for this car as I know mine are likely to not last too long in this setup.

Does the MS3 use the same engine mounts as the normal 3?

yes if you have a AWR engine mount on your sedan then this will fit the MS3

hmm.... engine mount does sound like a good purchase, but I NEVER spin my wheels. I am not a fan of the VIBRATO effect that they give cars at idle. I still may grab one and keep it handy.

I get the same loud BANG! when shifting hard from 1-2, first time I did it I thought for sure something broke. Makes it very unnerving to drive this car hard. I have found with the DSC off it does it less for some odd reason. Was hoping that going to an AWR mount would cure this, but it seems like it didn't work for you. I have an 88 Duro on the way from Protege Garage so i'll let you know if it fixes it for me.

I think I got that last night, I thought something blew up. I started the car with the DSC off trick and launched it to get some drag practice, caught 2nd nicely but when I popped 3rd in I got a nice loud BOOM. Freaked me out..

gentlemen,

for those of you having the loud popping, please check your engine
mounts located below the battery! it could mean that the bolt is loose
and your transmission is slamming up against it's mount.

I had the same problem. checked the bolt, it was loose. after tightening
i get no more thunking noises. there are several posts about this...

I had this occur when my car was box stock at 700 miles on it's first romp. I installed the AWR mount. Checked the trans mount which WAS loose, fixed it. Never heard the noise again. Mileage is 5k now. Build date 12/06

Yea...seriously if your hearing the loud booming please check your tranny mount bolt. I've said it a million times already but here we go again.

The ONLY time i have ever heard that loud bang is before my mount broke. Since it has all been fixed i NEVER hear that sound when driving hard.

And that mount applies for everyone with a 3? I had that bump the one time I had some wheel spin.hop months ago. I'd love to get rid of that.

happened in WRXs a lot... shift hard and you get that bang in the tranny section of the car.
