Im gonna be in montreal next week with a few of my friends and im wondering if you guys can give me a few ideas on what to do. As of right now the only thing we have planned is an islanders vs canadians game and i'm siked. Cant wait to see the isles lose. Any way our hotel is right on st. catherines st. What are some good things to do in the city?

im guessing drink. lol. i might be taking a trip to canada this summer just to hit up the nightlife..
Another will I have a problem if I wear my brodeur nj devils jersey there
The way the habs have been playing lately, I think the 'Isles" might actually win! As for the jersey, Brodeur is from Quebec, so there is much love for him here!

To tell you the truth, I haven't been out clubbing or taking advantage of the Montreal nightlife in years. So my advice probably won't be the best. But still, your best bet is to go on "Crescent street" which is off St-Catherine. There are tons of bars/pubs/clubs on that street. Also there is lots of fancy restos and cool lounges/bars on St-Laurent street.

It would be stupid to get rid of this jersey. I bought it right after the devils v rangers playoff series. It came with a broom too. HAHA good luck getting into the playoffs this year.

I can wait to get into montreal. I here molson has some good beers that they dont sell here in the states. I guess i will bring my devils jersey then. Also whats the weather like this time of year. Im sitting i n 20 degree weather here in jersey right now. I hope it isnt much colder then that.
20 celcius or?

Cuz tonight it was like -41 celcius but then again last week was +5 - hot - Car was hot!

Then again if you look here:

Saturday +5, Sunday +9, Monday +1, Tuesday +2 --- That's f*king hot! Woot! :p

---

When are you coming down?

---

Molson is good... but I'm not a big beer drinker and that's too strong for me, I prefer the weaker Budweiser - Coors - Labatt Blue (my favorite) etc...

Na we use Fahrenheit over here in jersey.

Were leaving early sunday morning around 5am so hopefully we well get to montreal around 3pm. Then its to the hotel for a nap then out drinking. I here labatt has a 10% beer there in canada? I cant wait to drink that.
Damn man, I have family from Montreal, and I'm an hour and a half away here in Ottawa.

You have to check out Old Montreal, and the strip :) Avoid the olympique stadium as it might fall down on your head. ;)
Here's a great list of all the clubs in Montreal. I realize the first one on the list is a gay bar after just checking it, and that's not my scene, but every bar in Montreal is listed. There are TONS of things to do on a Montreal late night. :D And tons of public transit to get you from one place to the next.

The underground city is kinda neat and perfectly sheltered for this time of the year. :D

I believe they have an Imax theatre downtown if you want to watch a great movie.
DO NOT miss out on Old Montreal. It's way better to be there in the summer, with buskers about etc, but is still cool, pardon the pun, in the winter in Old Montreal. Takes me about an hour and twenty minutes to get there, and have free lodgings to go.

I should go this weekend, but im having 3 wisdom teeth pulled out.
They have AWESOME places to eat and drink there for sure. Some of the best I've been to. Check out the Micro brewery bar. It's kind of expensive but very tasty. :D

hell, you're on St-Catherine, just stop wasting time and go to the strippers !!!!

8)
IMAX is in the Old Montreal, in the port. There is an IMAX theater in one of the Famous Players cinema but its not the same.
So it seems like the agenda consists of strippers, beer, Canadians, and more beer. Sound good. Haha

Also, should i bring US cash up with me or should i use my debit card? Still unsure about that. Im leaving tomorrow morning at 6am. Pretty excited.
Wow........ your debit card is useless here. We have a different system. If I base myself on what I have seen with the few American members I got at Costco your Debit cards are combined with your credit cards and you don't need to input a PIN number. Am I right? Here the debit cards are only for BANK transfers, have nothing to do with credit cards and NEED a PIN number to access your moula.

You either need CASH or CREDIT CARDS.
The trip worked out well. Only thing is that it took us 5hrs to get there and 10 to come back. Stupid snow. I was amazed with the amount of 3s i saw almost 10 a day. The strip clubs were awesome, the strippers even better. Molson dry and Blue dry are now my favorite beers and winston churchhills is now my favorite bar for having 2 for 1 molson drys. It was a great trip though.
Hehehehehhe!!!

Nice to hear you had fun. Now you SERIOUSLY need to come down during the summer time! The women come out from hibernation... while their clothes go into hiding! :)

Haha...i want to go back sooner then later. I think we are going to try Toronto soon though. I love the city but some of the people were not very nice. At the habs game the USA anthem was booed. Then when the isles goalie got knocked out they booed, too. I guess it has to do with our relations with France. Other wise great city expensive though.
Booed uh... Then I guess I will apologize for all the uneducated fools that were booing the anthem. I am actually quite surprised they are "still" doing it, I mean it was "ok" during the Irak invasion in 2003 but now there is no need for it.

"Other wise great city expensive though."

Expensive? Hmm... I guess your referring to the taxes?

Oh well... T.O might feel more like home since its more "Americanized" -- I am sure I will get my ass handed to me on this forum for saying that but eh... It's what I've heard.
dont feel that toronto is americainized... but more chinesized

LoL...

So I see your part of this forum also! ;)
A lot of peope from the states like toronto, but LOVE Montreal. This comes from thousands upon thousands of conversations with folks over tech support every year. Anyone I mention I'm from Canada to, or ones that are curious where I am, always rave about Montreal. It IS a great city though. If you like that feel but with something a little smaller and not so hectic to drive in (frigging quebec drivers!) Then come to Ottawa. :)

If you want your US style home away from home, go to Toronto. ;)
