I change my oil every 4 months so 3 times a year isn't so bad.
Every oil change cost about 5 for oil filter plus 5.50x5 quarts. Mobil1 syn 5w -20

Based on my driving conditions, I use Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 and change it every 7500K and it's backed up by a UOA.

have been using mobil 1 for about a year. We stock it at work so its easier. I change at 3-4 months 3k anyways. I have found it only takes 4 qt to fill. regular oil is about $2.50 and mobil 1 about $5 so its only costing me $40 a year for synthetic, pretty cheap as far as im concerned, and it just makes me feel better knowing I have one of the better oils in my pretty large investment, and planning on keeping the car at least 100k miles.

Who have you helped??? I don't know that I've even seen one person on this board say thanks for your "help". Maybe it's because instead of helping people you just irritate them by your ridiculing comments.

I change mine more often than necessary, prolly. but I drive stop and go for 30 miles in 100 degree weather sometimes.

but let's look at this, in a logical way.

either you've changed it enough, or you haven't changed it enough (meaning you've had engine failure due to lack of required maintenance). In reality, your car is probably not going to break down because you didn't change you oil frequently enough. Just stay within warranty guidelines and keep records, and if you drive in very hot or cold areas, keep in mind that oils break down faster.
if you can afford more frequent changes, and you're planning on keeping your car for a while, why not do yourself a favor and treat it well. if you want to go to the extra effort to look at oil reports, that would be the definitive way to ensure you're changing your oil enough, and will clue you in to possible problems before a major failure, but i am much too lazy for that.

i choose to err on the safe side, but then i'm not on a very tight budget.
