I've notced alot of 3 owners have moved up to the speed3, myself included. Was curious how many so I figure start this topic to get a count.

Seems like you all downgraded in color, except the white, I don't know what that looks like.

I think I would upgrayeed. I like my winning blue too much though.

I "moved up" from a '74 Porsche 911 to a 2007 MazdaSpeed3! Seriously, I kept the 911, but I bought the MS3 for my daily driver after the other Porsche guys told me about it. The MS3 is just as much fun to drive as the 911 and it's reliable, affordable and under warranty! Every day I drive the MS3, I enjoy it more and more. I haven't seen another MS3 on the road since I bought my car last month.

I think you need to get your terminology straight. You may have moved to a different pew in the church, but not everyone thinks you moved up. I don't see an up from the Velo Hatch. Especially if it involves a move from VR to TR. :crazy:

2005 VeloRed 3 to 2007 True Red MS3.

Used to like the Velocity Red much more, and no one could argue me out of it!! BUT, having my old 3 and my new MS3 parked side by side...I hate to say it...the VeloRed paled in comparison.

I set out last June to get an '06 Mazda 3 GT. Test drove many. Then around August I got this email from MazdaUSA with a picture of a True Red MS3, and the rest is history.

Does that count?

Seriously though, I went from a Protege, to an Audi A4, to a BMW X5, to the Speed. The evolution has taken longer for me. I'm not even going to waste time comparing the Speed to the Protege.

FWIW, Velocity Red was/is a gorgeous color but the True Red looks fantastic on the Speed 3. I'm just a silver kind of guy (e.g. lazy - less washing, removing swirl marks, etc.)

I just (March 30th) traded an '07 3 iTouring model 2.0 liter (power options, cruise and keyless entry - the only extras) for a Cosmic Blue MS3 !! An additinal [glow=red,2,300]115hp and 145 ft-lbs [/glow] of torque for $130 more a month, plus all the other exrtas? No question in my mind. I had a 1992 Sentra with 150K on it and it started costing more to fix than it was worth. I bought my first 3 in Sept. '06 and fell in love with it. I wanted a MS3 to begin with but all were spoken for or had a several thousand dollar markup. I figured I would wait until the right time. I got a partner discount on my orginal 3 and paid $15,800 ($1K off sticker). After 9,000 mile and 6 months, they gave me $14,000 for it! After saving the taxes on the difference, I only had had about $1,500 negative equity to roll into the new one. Not too bad of a deal, plus the difference is AMAZING! Plus, this is what I REALLY wanted to start with.
