15% all the way around. im on my second warning next is ticket
[/quote]

This is what I meant by bragging, question was who has legal tint, not illegal, so really this does not belong here either, but you guys do what you want.

Hey I dont even have tint, but when I do, it will be legal.

BTW- I also have a eye doctors note about light sensitivity, and the DMV does not care, they said that's what sunglasses are for, tint cannot go past legal because of my condition, well that's in NC anyways. I was going to get tint last year and try to get at least 20% but I dont want to deal with the night vision problems just to have my car look cool.

The statement above supports why illegal tint is not worth it, but again wrong topic I know.

Sorry if my wording comes off as agressive, not what I meant, just giving some thought from the legal standpoint, I will admit when I was younger I had to have illegal tint, like everyone else, just to play along, but now that I'm 33, I dont see the thrill anymore of wondering if and when I will get pulled.

Fair enough. Just for the record, it is in Washington State law that you can have any darkness of tint as long as you have proof of an eye condition requiring it. Also, at 20%, I have almost no problems with night vision. However, I wouldn't go any darker for that reason. But with all that said, I do more or less agree with you. My personal reasons for tinting my windows darker than the legal limit had more to it than just looks and style, but I recognize I'm a more unusual case than most.

Anyway, I got the impression the OP was kind of just wanting to gauge what different levels of tint look like, so hopefully the couple pics posted in this thread help him out a little, even if they are of illegal tints.

i have no clue what % my tint is... i got the car with tint on alrdy, how would i go about finding out?

A tint shop will have the meter needed to read the LTV of the tint. You could also get it done by a vehicle inspector.

5% tint put on top of 20% all around. Windshield at 35%
The black one :D

So this means you really have 1% tint, blocking 99% of natural light.

Geez, might as well paint your windows black, this has to be very dangerous to even drive and on top of that the front window as well. I would not want to be driving next to you or in your blind spot, you would never see me or anything else.

Once again the topic was how many people have legal tint, so why is everyone posting the complete opposite ?????????

i haven't tinted mine yet, but it will be prolly by the end of the week. utah's limit is 43% on the front doors, nothing on the windsheild, and as dark as you want on the back doors and rear window. i'm planning to have 43% on the front and somewhere between 15-20% on the rest. pics to come

I will admit that looks badass, but how can you even remotely see at night?

so, to keep on topic here; i had my windows tinted yesterday. the dealership had the tint shop (best one in town) do the front doors at 50% so that there is no question that it's legal. with the stock tint, it's probably around 44-47%. utah's lowest is 43%. windshield has nothing done (because it's staying legal ). the rest of the windows is 15%. these shots are at dusk. i'll post better pics up when i can take pics in good light.

On topic: I got 35% all around. I believe that's the limit here. Most legit auto tint companies won't do illegal, unless you know them probably...

On a side note: I've heard that there is a 100% clear tint now and could be used for the front windshield. It doesn't block out the light, but does reduce UV rays and heat. I haven't personally checked it out, but sounds good if it is legal, and true.

I live in Montreal and the limit is 70% in front and back has no limit. My tints in the front are at 30% (way above the limit) and the back windows are at 6%. i got a ticket 2 weeks after i got my tints done. Cop pulled me over and did a window tint test and gave me a $154 fine and told me to change them....i never did!! :p
