okay so last night on my home from work my car just dies, engine is going but car aint going no where, got stuck on the side of the boonies on my way home, sucked 1hour an half in the middle of bumble f*CK, my car had 77858 miles on it, what is the life expectancy on a stock clutch 5years? 50 or 70k miles before its supposed to replaced....?

dropped the car off at the dealer they are charging me 876 plus tax for new clutch and labor, :dur:

Deffinitely a milage opposed to time issue with replacement. nearly 80k sounds like it could be on the early side still, but it depends. My friends '93 escort has had the clutch replaced every 40k miles almost like clock work (at like 40k, 82k and at about 125k miles). A lot depends on how you drive, 80k doesn't sound like 'bad' milage to get before it dies, but of course I would also want to try to drive the car into the ground before it goes (just like I would want brake pads to last the life of the car). Other then defective clutches I have seen them last on cars from about 25k to over 150k before dying...a lot depended on how the person drove the car and some on the car itself (some cars seemed to last a lot longer then others).

Anyway more highway miles then city, gentler starts and proper clutch use/shifting all make it last a lot longer. So far I have ~30k with the clutch still going strong.

i was told that since we have a hydralock clutch, it usually only last for 50k or 5 years, i guess if carefully taken care of im sure it could go more than 100k, i never really beat on my clutch, just mild driving i'd say for myself, but im kinda of glad it died on my way home from work at 12am instead of during rush hour in the morning, but that sounds pretty good that ur car has 30k still going strong, i wonder who in here has gone past 80k on stock clutch

It's weird how you say it "died"... A clutch usually would start slipping, etc. etc. before it totally becomes undrivable. I mean unless you were totally oblivious to the slippage, you should've caught this way before it died.

i already knew it was slipping, i'd rather drive the car to the point of if i have to break down im gonna have to, thank god for triple aaa, anyways car is getting fixed but read the title it says how many miles did you push on stock clutch before it died! i just wanna see how many other 3 owners have gone on there clutch before it was completely gone or had to be replaced because of slippage

Very nice! I think they are some of the sexiest rims out there for the 3! I love the semi-stock but much much prettier look haha

i didnt have enough money for that :wtc:

i really wanted to get a mazdaspeed clutch but oh well, maybe later i'll get one but the price to change it was crazy 876 plust tax, its a big chunk of change. maybe this clutch i'll get more than 77k miles on it.

then again whats the purpose of modding my car if im thinking about getting an EVO in the next year or so
