High performance muffler and Mz3 = No Go

Well, while waiting for a complete cat-back, I thought I would install a high performance universal muffler. Came back from the tuning shop...no go. There's no place to fit any model unless you start butchering the muffler by cutting the tip of it and all that....not a clean job and not what I wanted. So I guess I'll have to wait.

I'll go try and look how much a custom one would cost.

You got a quote fobby?
that's what I got from a muffler shop for custom bend tube.
I'm going to go see http://www.l-sport.ca/english/custom_fabrication.htm to see what they can do.....no way I'm waiting 1 year.
i'd just wait until the catback comes out...get way more gains then...and are you trying to add like a fart can type muffler?
I for one am glad that the Mazda3 has a unique muffler design. That way you can't put a tasteless universal muffler on it that doesn't quite fit right and look like you are in line for an APC sticker.

If you want to replace the stock exhaust, wait for a vehicle-specific one to come out from a reputable tuning shop.

An HKS universal muffler is far from tasteless so you don't have to generalize. L-Sport is a reputable shop here. They build custom stuff are excellent. They are not big but that doesn't mean they're not good. If they make a line for the 3 it will fit perfectly. Of course if they quote me a ridiculous price I'll have no choice to wait.
support my city and wait for a borla exhaust to come out haha =D haha

Send some warm weather here and I'll think about it ;)
HKS and Greddy are at work designing an exhaust now. I briefly talked to a distributor of both and they have received many calls about exhaust systems for the 3.

My friends' speed shop got a few dozen calls for exhausts, intakes, and suspension upgrades. Funny, cuz I havent seen one damn 3 on the road but mine.
M3-GT, move your Canadian butt down here to the Golden State--no salt on the roads, hot babes in bikinis a good 7 months of the year some beaches, and best of all, lots of automotive enthusiasts just like us. Of course, you do have to deal with the "Governator", but hey, it's better than freezing your nalgas off 4 months of the year.
Don't tempt me....;) Damn big drive also! lol
hey canadians on this thread.. there is a borla factory in kingston, on .. if you didnt know.. :D
Any news on this?...
Solved my problem. A buddy of mine that preps racing cars made me one custom.
I have a Fujitsubo Legalis-R on my Z and the craftmanship, fit, finish, and sound are second to none. I have initiated contact with Fujitsubo about an exhaust for the MZ3. I will post info once I receive a reply back from them.
