I need your help. I bought a shift knob at Auto Zone today THINKING it would fit. Well, i got it out of the package and put it on and now there is like a 1/2" gap between the nob and the boot.... Anyone know a cure or solution... (and don't say put the old knob back on lol)

Just put a few washers on the shifter shaft, below the boot, until it meets the bottom of the knob.

That is the easiest way. Put a little tape around the washers as well, as this will prevent them from rattling.

With that avatar, I don't think he has one.  But he does have good taste in men.  I'd like to get ahold of his scrunchy.

We should be so lucky ;)

To be on topic, usually stuff from the auto stores don't fit very well. Look for a knob from one of the forum sponsors - a bit more expensive, but at least you know it will fit :)

i'm sorry but a 110$ for a shift knob, is insane. which is what a good weighted one costs.

thats insane.

Not totally. If you have a short-throw shifter, the added weight to the shorter fulcrum makes finding the gears a lot smoother. I cringed at the cost of my TWM knob at first, but it made a huge difference in shifting feel.

i know it makes teh shifting a lot better, but 110$ for a piece of metal?

ITS INSANE.

I'd rather find a machine shop, go there, get one custom made with my initials that glows in the dark and is made of carbium composite carbon fiber aluminum iridium, and it would still be less.

wut?!? I personnaly have a lightweight one (made of titanium, Alex Motorsports) and would never go back to weighted!

But to be on topic, TWN sell some other shiftknobs that arent 110$.
