Hi, my 3 had an aftermarket security system installed in it, and I'm not sure what the point of it is maybe someone can help me out. Its called "Automatic Transmitter Verification". There is an LED mounted next to the cluster dimmer on the left and a toggle switch mounted beneath that near the hood release. When I arm the thing by flicking the switch, the LED will flash when the car is off. While it is armed, I cannot start the engine, so it seems to be some type of immobilizer. However, once I flick the switch off the car can be started. What is the point of that? What would stop a thief from disabling the immobilizer themselves?

The salesman was not able to explain this to me, because he actually picked this up from another dealership who were the ones to install the system. It was no additional cost to me, but I feel like I am not using it right.

Any ideas?
