I have the infinity reference components installed in my mazda 3s. I am trying to set the tweeters to -3db because they are too peircing. Where are my crossovers installed?? I heard the tweeter cable is only 6 inches to the crossover so im assuming they are in the beam or door? also....if anyone has done this with the reference or any other components....did it work better than just turning the treble down a bit? thanks

They are most likely in your door, but honestly they could be anywhere in the car the installer chose to put them. Actually on second thought, they are almost definately in the door, there's no way they would have dealt with those molex door grommets

Also, component/separates crossovers are not usually adjustable.

Most decent component sets have at least a tweeter level adjustment. The Infinity Reference components have a flat and -3dB setting for the tweeter on the x-over.

The x-overs on my Rainbow Germaniums have four tweeter settings, plus two separate crossover points for both the woofer and tweeter.

I wanted the germs so bad, but couldnt spend the extra $ for them, so I settled on the SLCs. I am still very happy with the sound too. Nice choice in wheels too haha.

What did you pay for the SLC's? I paid $450/shipped for the Germs from a member of the caraudio.com forums.

It depends on the tweeter location. If the tweeter is in the factory location it is probably in the door. If for some reason they put them on the pillars it would be in the car. Using the jumper to adjust the db setting is way more effective than adjusting treble. I have installed boston, diamond, jl audio.....some others.
