Don't know if this has been brought up or not. I always wondered why there wasn't a hatch light, well it turns out that I was just missing it. It's on the passenger side, under a little lip. There's a switch that sets it to turn on when the hatch is opened, or it can be set to never come on. I don't know how I missed it for so long, but I'm glad to have found it. I seem to recall some others were wondering the same thing.

Yeah, I agree that it's an underrated feature, as with the ENTIRE rear part of the hatch.

The way the light functions is like my buddy's 88 RX-7.

the P5 had the same setup (only the light was on the driver side, not the pass side as in the 3)... it wasn't bright enuff tho, Mazda put a better lense on the 3's hatch light :D
