Heres the link to the thread that started it all.

http://my350z.com/forum/the-lounge-off-topic/531951-won-ebay-auction-at-55-1k-for-gt-r-honda-of-san-marcos.html

And heres the OP's first post incase you don't want to click the link and read.

"I won eBay auction item number 220823902975. I spent hours to watch this auction and won it at $55,100 sunday afternoon. As soon as I won I sent a email asking how would I make the deposit for the car. Monday Morning I called since I did not get a response. I talked with a Chelsea who took my call at 10am today (8/8/2011) I ask to speak with their internet sales person which is Randy. She tried to get me to Randy and finally said that he is there but refusing to take my call. I left a message with her to let him know that I am the winner of the auction and want to make the deposit and arrange pickup date. A hour later another guy called me said they are not going to sell me the car as Randy made a mistake and is out of town when earlier I was advised he was refusing my call and he is there. I advised I was unhappy that they are not going to honor the price and asked to speak to someone higher. He directed me to Ian at 512-392-1313. I called Ian and he said that they are not going to sell me the car for the price I won it at and if I want the car I will have to pay the price their asking of $59k.

I feel as what this dealership is a violation of Consumer Protection laws.

So far I have reported this to BBB, Federal Trade Commission, Texas department of motors, Texas's attorney's office.

UPDATE! After our post elicited a flurry of stories throughout the automotive universe thanks to our readers tipping off every forum in the known universe, Honda of San Marcos relented to the pressure and has agreed to honor the initial eBay sale. All is well that ends well... we hope. We put in a call to Xou Vang, and here's what he had to say:

They are willing to honor my price of $55,100 and the owner wants to talk to me to get a resolution. Thanks again for all your help.

It's amazing that all this happened in like 3 days. But they are saying that the stealership is trying to sue the OP now. So i'm interested to see what happens. Just thought it was an epic thread to share :)

I've been following that for about three days now. Pretty awesome story. I'm glad to see there is some semblance of resolution.

Now if only the internet vigilantes dedicated themselves to a cause worthy of such commotion.

Stories like this make me laugh. Cry me a river.

Reminds me of the guy who's skyline was stolen and then due to forums was found, the thief photographed (posted online) and followed to his house. I think all that took only a couple of days.
