Do you guys think it would be bad going from Synthetic oil back to regular? With an engine flush?
I am using Pen. Platnium and its just getting to expensive. just wondering if its good to go back to regular.

you'll be fine switching
No need for an engine flush. You can safely go back and fourth as much as you like. Havoline, Motorcraft, Castrol, Pennzoil are all good choices for dino.
i like motorcraft 5w-20 synthetic blend i just got 2 5qt jugs from walmart for 10.36 a piece. Been using it since the car was new and i do 5,000 mile changes with it. Really good deal for a good performing synthetic blend.
Engine Flush?

That doesn't sound too good for some reason.

What would the engine be flushed with?
ummmm fresh oil.....

How much is PP costing you? If you can time it right, you can find it for 2 bucks a quart.

Go for it! No need for flush unless a UOA has confirmed something.
Otherwise, congrats on going less expensive! If it wasn't for the longer OI, I would much rather go dino.

so many people have gone >200K miles on dino (including me in the past).

Ha ha. U r right about that. Stockup when they have the rebates or BOGO's.
Very smart to switch back. Not only is synthetic not needed, it isnt any better. Regularly changed conventional oil is just as good. Glad you have seen the light.
its not good to go back and forth between syn and regular oil... the seals get used to one type of oil and when you start changing the oil. its gonna start causing problems... my friend will testify to this since he seen what it does first hand.. he is a engineer for a tier 1 supplier here in detroit that deals with chrysler and GM... need to stick with one and be done with it... better off just going with a good syn blend to start your oil changes off with, but it sounds like you are way past that now

I disagree. I use synthetic in the winter and conventional in the summer, and have for years. So do many of my friends and family. My previous car ('87 Grand Am) even had 210K miles on it and didn't have this problem.

Some synthetics will leak through marginal seals more easily. So if you're running conventional oil for a long time and you switch to a synthetic and a small leak starts, you can probably go back to conventional to stop the leak. The seal didn't change, the oil did.
lol my Jeep Cherokee had over 300k miles on the original engine. Crank sensor went out but $60 bucks later it was back in business... no maintenance other than oil changes, no problems... I think it had a different oil in it everytime it was changed lol. Right after 300k it was rebuilt and bored to 5liter :D Then my dumb ass sold it to pay for college...

personally i would steer clear from that product, my understanding is that they use a high degree of chlorinated solvents

Jeez this guy is a wealth of incorrect advise. Complete poppycock. Considering he actually thinks your car will benifit from synthetic oil is a good sign that he is full of poo.
