Below the greeting and your avatar at the top of each forum page, mouse over "Profile", select "Account Settings". Mouse over "Modify Profile" and select "Notifications". Hell, try this link and see if it takes you directly there: http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?action=profile;area=notification;u=9305

Make sure the second box is unchecked, regarding notifications when you post or reply to a topic. And that should fix it.... I think.

I think it was after one of the updates/fixes to the forums when I started getting the notification emails, like the profile settings were reset or something. I've been too lazy to go looking through the profile options (I haven't been getting too many emails as I haven't been that active on the forums recently) until I saw this thread and went digging for it. Do you guys still get the emails after un-checking the second box? I fixed mine when I posted previously and didn't get any emails for this thread.

I unchecked it thinking it was related to the emails... sure enough, I haven't had any notification emails, and the new replies link at the top still works for me. It's how I came back to this thread just now. Give it a try and see if it works.

Go to Profile -> Modify -> Notifications

In the Notifications section you should have these three choices.

Notification Settings said:

  • Receive forum newsletters, announcements and important notifications by email.
Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.
When sending notification of a reply to a topic, send the post in the email (but please don't reply to these emails.)
If the second one is turned on then when you post it will activate the "notification" feature. You can also activate this manually for either specific threads, or for entire boards by clicking the "notify" button located in the top options bar (by reply, new thread, etc.). I know at one point once you selected to be notified you couldn't un-notify yourself on a board. This was really annoying. With one of the last several software updates we did you can now deselect a thread from notifying you.

Again under the notifications section of your profile scroll down to the section below the three check boxes. This will be a list of any threads and/or boards you're currently being notified on. If you want to deselect any select them (no pun intended) and click the "unnotify" button. That should take care of it for you.

all of the boxes have already been unchecked... If I select all the threads doesnt that mean they wont pop up in the "Show new replies to your posts" section?

No, they're unrelated. The notification feature is specifically so that the forum will tell you that there have been replies, etc. The "show new replies" will function regardless of notification settings. For instance I've set perhaps 5 threads for notifications total and I can still use the new replies function. Actually that's what I primarily use.
