I'm selling my Savage X F4.1 RC 4WD truck. Was broken-in using the heat-cycle method. Truck has minimal wear on it, and is very reliable. Only failed once since I bought it brand new in 2007 due to stripping the original spur gear last December. Engine can idle all day long without cutting out. Wheelies on command if ran a little leaner.
Has all the basic upgrades already done. Includes a Hitec HS-645MG steering servo, stock high-torque steering servo is now used for throttle, stainless steel dual disc brakes, throttle failsafe, 5 cell receiver hump pack, HPI Polished pipe, and a Du-Bro exhaust deflector. I've also put on Du-Bro body clip retainers on the body (never loose those pesky clips again!)
Also included is a selection of new and opened spare parts including O-rings, metal shafts, extra rubber-sealed wheel bearings, 4-bevel-gear diff conversion kits (for Savage 21 as the Savage X already has 4-bevel-gear diffs, but works great for rebuilds), extra screws and a few other items.
I've also done the Ofna fuel tank modification to this truck to eliminate the half-tank-lean issue that most all Savages have. I fabricated a custom aluminum shelf to mount the Ofna fuel tank to and used threaded rod to secure the tank.
After-run oil was put in after every day of running and the piston was always set to bottom-dead-center before storing it on a small scissor jack to relieve the suspension.
This package in total includes the truck, transmitter, RotoStart2 unit, all the spare parts, and a glow plug ignitor (turned out the glow plug ignitor was a dud).
The only items you'll need are a battery charger, a standard 6-cell shotgun battery pack, receiver battery charge leads, 8 'AA' batteries for the transmitter, and some fuel (I recommend Trinity Monster Horsepower 20%)...and a glow plug ignitor.
This truck does have some cosmetic flaws, however nothing unusual for a semi-regularly driven truck. The body has quite a few scratches, the engine cage has severe road rash on it as well as the rear body posts, the final drive shafts have some surface rust on them, and the engine head has a scratch on the right side, but nothing that affects the function of the truck. Skidplates have obligatory scratches as well as the bumpers.
This is by far the best nitro R/C vehicle I have owned (and I've owned at least a dozen different nitro trucks alone), and I wouldn't be selling it if I had more time to drive it. It is the easiest truck I've had to work on, most robust, most reliable, and thus the most enjoyable.
$300 $280 shipped OBO. Local pickup available. Currently in northern SLO county, but I'm also in the Ventura/Oxnard/Camarillo area every couple of weeks.
I don't know how much these things depreciate, but I originally paid over $400 for the truck alone back in May of 2007, and that was before all of the upgrades which tacked on at least another $100.
I have excellent feedback on RCUniverse.com under the same screen name.
