Will this work on a 08.5 mazda 3 with AUX input and stock bose package HU?
Will i be able to control songs from steering wheel and charge the ipod with it? is there a limit to what devices work?

Honestly I don't know. But looking at this thread, all signs point to no.
It says: "(Note: Due to a HU connector change in 2008.5+ models from 32 pin to 30 pin some inputs/ipod modules may not work with '08+ models. Please contact the seller/manufacturer to confirm compatibility, or join one of the brand specific discussions prior to buying)"

I am not sure at what connector you have at the back of your head unit. This device has a 16 pin connector (white part) that plugs in the back of my head unit. If you want you can take yours out and see whats back there.

But I suggest you dig up more info, and go from there.
