Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping some of you can help me out here.

I have a 2 week old Mazda 3 I-Touring and I've noticed something which
concerns me with the two front doors.

The detent in the middle of the door opening arc is very soft. If I open it
from either inside or outside it will go to the full open position with minimal
force. The back doors are much stiffer.

When you open it slowly, you can feel the detent and it is there (I'm not
saying it's not) but it's not very pronounced.

Is this normal? Has anyone else noticed something like this?

I guess I am a noob when it comes to "detents" because I have no idea what it is. If I know what it is, I might be able to help.

my detent works in the front, it catches easily to me, but yeah my back doors are harder to open i think, or just dont open all the way. both i tihnk.


i think detents are the little grooves in the door hinge that stops the door at certain points, like halfway.

Yes, sorry, I could've been more specific with 'detents'.

I was referring to the "groove" or "stop" you feel roughly
in the midway position while opening a car door.

So they're really that light normally? I really can't recall
checking it during the test drive.

I know mine is like that....I never cared. I always liked how easy they open and close.

I got what your saying...yea, mine are easy. I like it. I think its normal

normal. just be careful when parked close to other cars etc
