well, i live in california but i dont like having a front liscence plate. it just bothers me. i've had my 3 for a little less than a month. about 1500 miles on it.

anyways i took off the plate frame and plugged the hole with some plugs and painted them with touch up. i'm not really that happy with how well they fit, but its good enough for now at least.

Looks OK... I wish we could get away with not having to have a number plate on the front in Australia. :) Its a much cleaner look, I think.

I'm in Cali and I sis the same thing, however, right now I just have 2 ugly holes in my bumper. It still looks better than the license plate though.

yeah my car came without the frame on the front and it looked so nice...but when my plates came in i had to put it on because its texas law :(

yeap it's the law for low priced car. and those high priced car owners are excluded because they pay more taxes
anyway, on my 01 accord has had no front plate since i bought it and never being pulled over unless i was invited by cops to court for speeding.

gonna do this to my 3 man! just wonder....what size of nut should i plug.. and is the nut metal or plastic?

It looks good from a distance. It really helps show off that distinctive snout on the Mazda 3.

But I also live in California and know it's illegal to not have a front license plate. Unfortunately for those of us who like living in this state, it's something you do or risk getting a stupid $10 fix-it ticket for.

Most of the time, I don't think a Californian cop will stop you for not having a front license plate, unless they are itching to give tickets out, or if they stop you for something else and want to slap on as many charges as they can on top of the original reasons why the stopped you.

there should be a national law against front plates... most cars just look hideous with them on.
I agree. Michigan did away with that silly law over 20 years ago (as far as I can remember). I really see NO point in a front license plate, anyway. Plus, I don't think any sane person could give you a legitimate reason for one, either.
