Hi guys, I need help.

My girlfriend's mother's 2000-2001 Ford Escort 2 door sport edition has a problem. What my girlfriend describes it is that when the car comes to a complete stop, the car jerks, while it is idling. The dashboard lights are also very faint, possibly even off. What's going on!!!!!!!! Holla back please! ASAP!

Sounds like a choke problem (computer controlled). Also, my old Cavalier had a similar issue and the computer said that the air / fuel mixture was too rich. Turned out a few wires in a major wire bundle in the engine had rubbed through after 100k, so my car effectively had a stroke. Repairing the wires did the job, but it was a lot of diagnosis work and time spent locating and performing the repair.

I'd suggest examining the computer & electronics, but I am sure that other theories will be presented.

Sounds like an alternator issue to me.

It may be an alternator or voltage problem stemming from the low amps of the alternator.....keep us posted.
