Hey everyone. Just thought I would say hi. I had been a Ford Escort ZX2 enthusiast/modder for 7 years and finally decided to hang up the laces on that era for now. I had been looking into this great car for many a ages since it came out and finally have decided to move up to it. I purchased a Winning Blue 2005 Mazda 3 S Touring with 15,000 miles on it yesterday in Turnersville Mazda in NJ. I have not taken delivery of it yet, but will tomorrow. I do not plan to do a whole lot of modding with this car like i did with the ZX2, but my plans may include the following:
- carputer/screen system above the top vents where the stock nav system would be
- the stock sport wing
- upgrade sound system

My name is Bill, residing in Howard County MD. I'll have pics of it soon.

Very nice car - love the color. Great choice of body style and tranny. You will have a lot of fun driving it. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks guys. It was a lot easier to spot zx2nrs from forums on the road, but it will probably be a lot harder with the Mazda 3 since they are the hottest sedan/wagon under 23,000 the last what... three years? I had been shopping for months for the Winning Blue since Mazda decided to ex that color from their lineup. It's a shame, and main reason why i didn't go with a 2007 model. Looking forward to meeting you all and hopefully come to a meet in the delval/midatlantic area as soon as this cr*ppy weather disappears. I sometimes head down your way if i head over the key bridge or stop in annapolis for an expensive bite to eat, so i'm sure ill see you around down there as well.

nice protege you have there ;-) I now have the mazda 3 in my possession and it's beautiful! I didn't even realize manual cars had an option for cruise control! And my insurance went down from the 2000 Ford ZX2. Gotta love four doors, side air bags, and anti-lock brakes ;-)

Safety, and Style. Gotta love it. I was amazed myself at how many safety gizmos this thing really has.

Is there somewhere on here that shows you how to do that? That sounds like a great idea! I know, I know, search the forum.

There's the part that you can order from japanparts.com that will do it for you:

It will house a 7" or 8" screen and has the machanism to bring the monitor up like the stock navi. However it's a manual mechanism, which is fine with me.

Secondly there's a chip you can buy to use the stock tape/mp3 portion to be converted into a headphone jack for aux output. This will let you hook up the computer to your stock sound system.

Welcome to the 3! I had a heavily modded ZX2 as well(I/H/E, cams, udp, FR ecu w/chip, etc), and my 3s mtx with MS CAI and exhaust is faster than the z with all the mods, not to mention the better quality. Enjoy the car.
