Hey Everyone, I havent posted in a while, but I have been watching the boards. I just got a silver GT last night for $500 under msrp with the processing fee waived as well. I thought it was a pretty good deal. They just got the car in and no test drives, which was a prerequisite for me. So far, I love it. It feels so solid on the road and cant wait to put more miles on it. Also, if anyone is in the area, I bought the car from Jason at Gaithersburg Mazda. He was a great salesman, a little shy, but he got me in and out in an hour and a half and everyone was super nice. They didnt even push any extended warranty or services. I did opt to get the rubber cargo mat and bumper protectors though. And after I got it, I went and picked up a large chair that I had bought a few days before and threw it in the back, no problem. I love the versatility of this car. Hopefully more good posts to come! :klavergreg:

Congratulations on the new car, sounds like a nice deal to me.

Comparing deals with sales tax is apples and oranges in my opinion, at least with the way the laws are in Missouri. If I have a trade-in, I would only pay sales tax on the difference but if I pay cash I would pay sales tax on the whole amount. The amount of the sales tax could be considerably different but really doesn't change the deal from the dealer. If I pay cash for a car and pay sales tax on the whole amount and then later sell one of my other vehicles, I can then make a claim for sales tax reimbursement and get a check back from the State. This makes it work as if I had traded the car in and only paid sales tax on the difference but it doesn't change the deal I had with the dealer.

Also, differing sales tax rates could make a big difference. If I buy in an area that has a very low sales tax rate and my total outlay is less than someone else's, does that mean the dealer gave me a better deal? Not necessarily as I might have actually paid more for the car but a little less after sales tax. In that situation, I actually got a worse deal from the dealer.

That's true, we were just wondering if your deal included sales tax or not, because almost all of us (not in Delaware I believe) are paying some sort of sales tax. Just trying to get an understanding of whether the deal you got was excellent or "OMG that was the greatest deal of all time "

Either way, great deal, great car, enjoy!

Yeah, wasn't saying that it was, just that we were trying to differentiate whether it was or just a great deal.
