ETS 3.5" TMIC Installed !!!- Now With Pics

Finally got my ETS 3.5" TMIC yesterday..Cullen and StreetUnit rock!!!! They have been on back order for awhile now, so I have been bitting my nails for a couple of months waiting for it...I got the 3.5" with the bolt on plate. Let me start by with this. If your the kind of person that wants a new part to be all shiny and perfect, with smooth welds..Well, look else where. But if you want an easy fit, and a part that works, and seems to work really well, then this is the TMIC for you...First, the 3.5" fits. The stock ram air shourd rubber seals will rub on the plate a little bit, but with an aftermarket rear mount, I can say, that it does not bump it durring start-up or under load..I only got to drive the car for about 40 mins, after I got the part on today, so the ECU is going though its learning curve again, but with the CP-E intake and Turbo XS "race pipe",and now the TMIC, this car now is really getting fast...Even with the DSC on, it will rip good in first and just plain crazy in second, it jerks the steering rather well to the left, and fits you, again with the DSC on!!!! I cant wait until the ECU is back up to snuff!!! The other really nice thing that I noticed was after the 40 min drive, I could open the hood and place my hand on the inter-cooler and it was only warm!!! This was in 80 degree florida sun today..I couldnt do that to the stock TMIC after a drive like that..Now, ill just patiently wait for CP-E or Cobb to come out with there programmer, and life will be good...

By the way, I have pictures of the ETS and stock inter-coolers, side by side so you can see the differance, and I have a couple of it on the car, but I dont have a picture hosting site, so if someone would like to put them up for me, I will gladly e-mail them to you...Thanks

Sean

P.S. the pics area little lower down!!!

Re: ETS 3.5" TMIC !!!

A few nice and free picture holding sites are cardomain.com, flickr.com (part of Yahoo) and Kodak Gallery.com (or something like that.) I want to see the side by side. You passed 310hps already with those mods. You already said that torque steer is accentuated if I understood you correctly. Any wheel spin?
Re: ETS 3.5" TMIC !!!

join photobucket.com its free and gives you a ton of free pic & vid upload space.

if you're just not into that sort of thing, I'll send you my e-mail in a PM. I'd love to see (and host) the comparison pics.

Re: ETS 3.5" TMIC !!!

First is pretty much all wheel spin if you nail it. Its controlable if you walk the throtal..Second is where all the shit really hits the fan..The car pulls really had up to 5800-6000 RPM and has a good over rev with power to 6300ish.......

Ok I think I found away to attach some photos I hope..In the side by side, the ETS is on the left, the stock is on the right...Theres just night and day in there size..Notice the tanks on the ETS, there much larger and flow a lot more than the smaller ones on the stock unit...

Re: ETS 3.5" TMIC !!!- Now With Pics

looks hot! (so to speak )

might be a stupid question, but does this IC eliminate the black engine cover? I mean, does it not fit along with it?
Re: ETS 3.5" TMIC !!!- Now With Pics

Damn... you got yours before I did! Mine will be here Monday. But I didn't order it from SU. They had a bolt on plate option?? I wonder if I got screwed?? hehe.. I'll have to see when mine gets here. Maybe they updated them? Anyways, looks good! Can't wait for my CPe CAI and turbo back to get here. Gonna be a fun car to play with...
Re: ETS 3.5" TMIC !!!- Now With Pics

The stock black cover dosent fit over the new TMIC...but thats ok with me. I like the look, and Im not one for having my hood open at car meets..The bolt on plate is an option from ETS, it does make it easier to get the new inter-cooler on the car.....
don't mean to bug you.....but could you elaborate a bit more on the bolt-on plate option? how does it fit/work/help?

and I wasn't suggesting it looks weird without the black cover. in fact, I quickly ditched mine on my Legacy GT for the "naked" engine look.
The plate comes two ways from ETS. You can get it welded on, so its always there, or you can get it in a bolt on form..Its four bolts and nuts, 2 on each tank side of the inter-cool..It really makes putting in on a whole lot easier.. As for its function, its works as an air divider, so that only cool air is run into the cooling fins area, and it helps seal the rubber from the ram air to the new unit, since the black cover dosent fit...oh, questions arnt a bother, im glad that I can help...

We've got to meet up sometime. :)
Im around. Check out streetunit.coms fourms page and theres a section for Central Florida Mazda Owners Group and they list meet in there. I usually get out to those..
I need to quit coming to this forum. I'm trying to pay off my motorcycle, and you SOBs aren't helping.
i like the look of the plate on there. i usually buy from RPM who has the plate welded on. they have a black finish one also. aaaargghhh... another 550 bucks blown! i think i'm almost up to 2K in less than one month just in parts. i think i have to go to one of those "anonymous" meetings soon.

It's an '04 Honda 599 (CB-600F4). It's a naked sportbike, with hardware from the CBR-600F3. Looks great and performs decently, and doesn't even register on thieve's most wanted lists. I'm going to wait until I get a garage before getting into something more expensive since I've already had one bike stolen. I'm halfheartedly trying to sell it while paying it off, but it'll come off the auction block once I don't have a payment on it anymore.

Sad thing is, the more I buy for my car, the less chance I'll have of coming out of the deal with a motorcycle, haha. I just hope I have it in me to keep from buying this TMIC until I get it paid off.
Where in NC are you? I'll have to post pics of my TMIC tomorrow after its mounted up... :D
