Starting on about June 10th email subs went haywire. I keep getting "New Topic" notification emails for topics which most certainly are not new. This happens on a lot of threads that I am subscribed to and some that I used to be subscribed to but no longer am. I'm not sure what the pattern is. One minute I'll get a new topic email, and a minute later I'll get a regular reply email for the same thread. Here's an example of a new topic email for an old topic.

Subject: New Topic: What's on your mind at this instant? v. 2.0

Have you looked at the list of threads you're being notified on the bottom half of the screen of the notifications section of your profile settings? It's possible that sdemo45 is just replying to the same threads that you are and all those threads happen to be in your notifications list. You can deselect them from that list. Not sure if it'll help, but it's worth a try. :)

I'm not saying that I shouldn't be receiving a notification of a post, because I should. I am subscribed to the thread (for email notifications). The issue is that the forum thinks when it gets a post from tapatalk that it's a brand new thread, even when it's not. Then it sends me an email saying a new thread has been posted, when in reality it's just a reply to an existing thread. Does that make sense?

Almost. The number of emails is close to the same (I'll explain why it's different below). However, the reason it's super annoying is that gmail groups all emails with the same subject line into "conversations", which makes it easy to manage because each thread has its own grouping in gmail with all the replies from that thread. Except that now anytime someone uses tapatalk I get a separate set of emails saying it's a new topic, with just replies from tapatalk users in it.

I'm actually getting more emails than I should be getting now though, because of another bug. Which is that even if I've unsubscribed from a certain thread, I will still get emailed if a tapatalk user posts in it (and the email will say that a new thread has been posted).

The whole thing makes it very difficult to identify actual new threads that I would be interested in, or where I would typically answer a new member's question. An example would be boards where I have a subscription to receive notification of any new threads, such as electronics.

Gotcha. I can see how that would be annoying since it's not grouping them separately. I'm wondering the Tapatalk app accesses the forum somehow differently. I'm thinking it must. I guess the Admins will need to start looking through code.

Yeah right. We haven't had any real coders on staff in a long time.
It does look like there's a new version of TapaTalk out, though. It's more complicated than the old version, unfortunately, so I can't just update it at a whim. I'll try to get to it this week.

I vote you lure Jason into your car by telling him you're taking him to Mohegan Sun for the night - and instead you tie him up in front of a computer until he gets this coding figured out. ;)

ally, that's fucked. lol.

dan, it works but it's also fucked. I can now see recent posts in all forums, not just on m3f and in shared forums like the lounge. for example I can see a thread about lowering an mkz hybrid. lmao.

OK it may take me a while to look into fixing that. I'll do what I can.
