TORONTO — The 2010 Mazda CX-7 is making its premiere in Canada, at the 2009 Canadian Auto Show here. Alongside it will be the updated 2009 Mazda MX-5.

The Mazda CX-7 gets a new look and a new 161-horseower 2.5-liter engine for 2010 — the same power plant as in the 2009 Mazda 6 and the 2010 Mazda 3. The engine is coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission. A carryover engine is a 16-valve turbo-4 that makes 244 hp.

The 2010 Mazda CX-7 gets revised front and rear appearance, with a new five-point grille that gives it a family resemblance to the new RX-8, MX-5 and Mazda 3. Improvements were made to the body to improve rigidity and ride quality. Inside, there are redesigned gauges with 3D dials and blackout meters, a multi-information display on top of the instrument panel and Bluetooth compatibility.

Pricing and complete specifications will be released closer to the CX-7's on-sale date.

Hmmmm so they are gonna offer it in a NA 4cyl? Interesting.

Looks like they went to a Mazda3-style NAV system as well. Doesn't look bad.

The Escape does pretty well with the 2.5l/6ATX combo and weighs about the same as the CX7.

I wonder if Mazda is preparing to kill the Tribute and this NA version will fit well into the Tributes spot?

I was under the impression the Tribute was going to become the CX-5.

It is. Or rather, its replacement is. It's based on the C1 (Mazda3) platform, not the Escape platform.
