I just snagged a set of 17" MZ3 5-spoke wheels. I want to paint them black, but I'm still on the fence about powder coating. I'm really ready for some instant gratification with the black paint, but is it going to be a paint in the ass (or much more $$) if I decide to get them powder coated in the future? Would they have to be sandblasted before powder coating?

Regardless, they have to sandblast the wheel anyways.. the only extra cost incurred is the cost of your paint

Sandblasting or even baking soda blasting. that at least wont leave any pits on the wheels leaving a nice, clean and smooth surface for the primer and other products used to paint the wheels over again
