DO 2ND GEN SPRINGS FIT ON A 1ST GEN?

Does anybody know?

I want some Racing Beat Springs, and there's a member selling his set out, but the car is a 2012 MZ3...I have a 2004 MZ3.

I was assuming that they fit, but I called RB and the guy told me that they are different and that I would have fitment issues.

Gen1 & Gen 2 RB springs are even the same price...And they look the same.

EVEN BETTER...HAS ANYBODY DONE THIS SWAP BEFORE, EVEN WITH OEM SPRINGS?

Please advise,

Thanks!

New springs are not even $200. If RB says they won't fit, they won't fit.

Current price for both first & second GEN are $213, somebody is selling me a set from a 2nd GEN...RB answer did not convinced me as they did not explain why they don't fit...In the other hand, I know that there are guys in the forum that do a lot of things that shouldn't work or fit and they do it anyway.

SO, if someone has actually done it or at least try it, please chime in.

Thanks!
Yes, they fit.

suspension is exactly the same between gen1 and 2, 3 however is 100% different.

They may have changed the spring rates some, but not by any noticeable amount.

There is only 1 change on the gen2 suspension, and it only applies to the speed3s, and that's a different LCA main rear bush, all else is the same.

Thanks man, I will make an offer for those 2nd Gen RB springs.

There is big difference between aftermarket performance springs offered by some vendors and the OEM spring rates. While the springs themselves "may" fit because of similarities in the suspension I would suggest that you possibly find a way to confirm the Spring Rates between the choices of OEM springs (none applicated by the OEM ) you are considering using. One way would be to go to a spring manufacture like TRW and look at the spring specification charts.
