My Friend Cord has decided to install a MazdaSpeed3 DISI motor and transmission. It's a 2.3 liter turbocharged, intercooled, direct injection (DISI), all-aluminum drive-by-wire motor mated to a 6 speed transmission. This thing puts out 265hp stock, and easily makes 300hp and 300ft/lbs torque just by opening up the intake and re-mapping the computer in his Sonic7 by MEV.

Have you guy had any experience with a SWAP?

LOL first off most of us know about the engine in our own cars.

Second I have never heard of anyone swapping the Disi motor into anyhing else.

Looks simple enough though. Fab up some mounts and align the transmission drive line and and let her rip.

the main thing is that you will need the ECU to control the engine.

Should be a lot of fun in that car. My friend is putting one in a Toniq R

wtf is disi? haha... if ur friend is spending the time to swap this engine into something I would also spend a little extra cash and buy forged internals so he reduces his chances of throwing a rod

can this engine be mounted properly to run it RWD? just get an F20C or a powertec V8, that would be way cooler

Look at this attached pic below for similar setup, it can happen.

ahh sorry, I couldn't tell how big the ass end of that car was, the first pic made it look like a FR car, my bad.

still why the DISI? there are better (lighter) engines to use for a car like that

Sometimes you need a little weight on the back end for traction...

Just swapping into a NA Mazda 5 turned out to be something of a nightmare.

But they had all sorts of electronics to run off the ECU. That thing doesn't look like it has much along the lines of electronics besides simply running the engine and sending tach and speedo signals to gauges.

Sure, if it's a drag car. But the car in question certainly won't be used for a drag car.

And FWIW, weight is never a good thing if you want the best laptimes possible.
