Didn't think the TPMS was that sensitive or precise - pretty cool!

When I first got my speed3 I remember the tpms light flashed and stayed steady on a long drive. After I checked the tires nothing seemed amiss so I chalked it up as a glitch (having never owned a car with TPMS didn't help either). I started driving again and the light turned off after a few minutes and stayed off for another 2 weeks or so then illumninated one day again and went off after a while. No big deal, I got used it.

Just a few days ago after leaving a client's house it beeped and stayed steady. This was after months of no 'issues'. So I visually checked the tires again and they looked fine. Now I'm thinking to myself, 'great, this is probably something I'll have the dealer check at some point'. So I decided to actually check the tire pressures (something I should've done in the first place) and found the fronts were a little low at around 32 psi, the rears looked perfect so I didn't bother checking them (well duh! big mistake). The light would not go away so I said 'f*ck it', pulled into a gas station, pulled out the guage and checked all four. To my surprise, the rears were only at around 25 but still looked perfect? I guess with these low profile tires it's harder to do a visual check. Once I brought them up to factory specs (34 front, 32 rear)the light was gone. Another noob learns a lesson and gains more respect for a feature thought to be pretty unnecessary.

I can't help wondering...
Is there any reason why you don't check your tire pressures on a regular basis?
Visually checking is a no no. Looks are decieving :p
Mine came with pressure sensitive caps that show red under 32psi- green over. Makes visual inspection possible (if you trust the cap).

Anyone else get these?

I went to target and picked up a digital air pressure reader. It worked great. but then one day I needed it and the darn thing would not work. doh - the batteries ran out. that thing was like $10
I went back to target and picked up the mechanical gauge. and it works great. keep it in my glove compartment.

If they show no sign of deflation or the steering wheel isn't pulling to one side, I usually don't worry too much about it. I guess that's not good enough.

I might pick up a digital but for now my cheapo mechanical is getting the job done.
