I think I hit a curb or somewhere and I found a bubble on my driver side front tire. I went to a local tire store and they told me for 205/50-17 they only got Hankook and the price was $150 each, including labor. Then I went to Sears and they said they only got Falken 452 and the total...$785!!!

the $785 includes 4 Falken 452 tires, labor, and alignment. The guy at Sears said Falken 452 was performance tire and much much better than Hankook so I got my tires replaced there. (Hankook from my local tire store would cost me about the same because 150*4 + alignment + tax)

is $785 to get my tires replaced a rip-off? I used to drive CAMRY and 4 14" KUMHO tire only cost me $160, including labor so when I heard the total was $785 I almost dropped my jaw to the floor because I could not believe 17" rim would cost 4 times than what I paid for 14"...

also, is Falken 452 good? I have never heard this brand before. i was in Sears originally looked for Michelin but Falken 452 was the only one they had for my rim size...

I got 4 KUMHO ECSTA AST 215/45/17 with full warranty and replacement for 50k miles installed mount and balanced for less than $500 from Discount tire.

Sears overcharges all the time, I never use them.

And I am guess you got them mounted and balanced for free ????

What kind of warranty ?? if you had them shipped they cannot be replaced at (prorated price )
I like the fact that my local Discount tire will replace them.

In fact I just had one replaced due to a nail in the sidewall, only cost me $10 for a brand new tire, installed and balanced under my warranty.

yea I could get the warranty if I wanted as well for about 50 more bucks and mounted and balance u can go to any shop offer the guys 80 bucks to do it anytime they are slow and bam got ur self everything for super cheap plus the shop I buy them from are here in south fl so if I had the time I could drive get everyhing there mounted balanced for no more than 500 you just gotta fight for ur money man dnt let ppl rip u off

Ever since my 1st retail job in highschool I noticed how much profit was made I realize it's nver a good deal no matter how much bs they said there still making shit load on it

KUMHO AST's are not Falken 452's - They're actually quite a step back in all area's. The AST isn't a great tire. It's a value tire for sure. This does have alignment included which is worth maybe $50-60 dollars for 2 wheels. +Mounting and Balancing(another $50 or so) That said his is the retail price for those Falken's. Add in taxes and it gets expensive. He's not trying to rip you off, he just doesn't have the best price.

That's a matter of opinion.

Kumho AST is a great tire, many members here swear by them, best tire I have ever had, so far almost 15k miles on them, plenty of grip and wearing very well, dry and wet weather.

I am an agressive driver and my car is lowered, so no complaints from me.

For me Falkens are no good, see we all have different preferences.

I prefer All season performance tire that does not break my Wallet, these were perfect, I did my research and got a great deal, only paid $85 each.

I said under $500, my actual cost was $468 and I did not need an alignment.

Comparison ( really depends on what you want, need )
I wanted All season and a higher Treadwear rating.

It's not opinion, the AST has poor wet traction. It actually ranks at the bottom of this test done 3 years ago.

cant really compare fk 452 and ast's as there different tires... ones an all season, the others a summer tire..

im not sure how either of these perform, since i never had them before...

i can say summer tires handle in the summer way better than an all season...i have kumho spt's (summers) and they grip way way way way more in the wet and dry than the all seasons (falken 912 and rsa's that i had) but obviously the summer tires are crap in the snow...

really depends what the tires are for...

785 is an ok price...considering that these tires go for 106 a piece at discount tire...if its worth the hassel get it from discount...if u want troble free..get it from sears....there only charge about 110+ more....no technically ripping u off

btw..14" to 17" is a big jump in size....lot more material goes into a 17" tire tha a 14" tire
plus theres no way a 14" tire costs 160$ for 4 corners...at least 300+ with mount and taxes

Im a tech at sears, we price match eveything and if you find it for less just tell us and we will call and check their price and give you the cheapest deal, also you have lifetime balancing and rotation and probably road hazzard. Be happy and th 452's are good tires
