Best looking "stubby" out there. If I didn't have my sharkfin, that is what I would opt for.

CX-7 antenna FTW!! good choice and looks real nice!
Would you mind doing the signal strength check on the stubby vs. the stock antenna to see if there is a measurable change in reception? To do this, turn your radio on to AM or FM and then press the power button and "2" at the same time. You should get a number that fluctuates depending on the signal strength.
I'm thinking that AM radio would be more susceptible to lower reception so do you think you could do the test using AM? Thank you!

Sorry to jump in here but, I just ordered the CX-7 antenna from Tonkin and saw this post. I'm about 42 miles from Boston FM stations, 15 miles from Manchester FM stations and 4 miles from a Nashua FM station. Also, 42 miles from AM channel in Boston.and just did the test you described with my stock antenna.
Boston FM channels (all but 1) constantly fluctuate 5/6/7, the oddball out was 96.9 and it was a constant 3/4
Manchester FM channels constantly fluctuate 7/8
Nashua FM a steady 8
Boston AM a steady 1, no static
I'll have the CX-7 antenna on Saturday if it arrives on time. I'll update these numbers for comparison then.

I'm off tomorrow so I will try to do the signal test with both. I live in the country and am 20 miles from the closest station.
As for the "snow", it's just play sand from the summer.

The AM station comes in crystal clear with a signal of 1. Passing under major powerlines (running up to Canada?) causes some distortion. but, this is only in that one location.
I was also able to check the following from Woburn Ma. today:
Boston FM channels from Woburn (about 10-12 miles) steady 8 on all.
Manchester FM channels (about 36-40 miles) constantly fluctuates 5/6
Nashua FM (about 32 miles) constantly fluctuates 4/5/6
Boston AM a steady 3

Boston AM 0 (was 1), clear audio.
I honestly can not tell the difference in the quality of reception. Looks good and works good, another great buy from Tonkin.
