I seem to recall an old thread on this. Anyway, I spoke to the dealer on the weekend and he said the cruise control may be offered on the stalk or possibly the wheel, as I have seen in the US and NZ. Does anyone have any more information?

I've ordered Cruise Control for my SP23. The dealer promised it will be steering wheel mounted. I'm a bit worried now seeing there is so much dissent. I'm waiting until April for delivery so hopefully someone will be able to confirm before then.

They may think that a stalk behind the steering wheel is considered steering wheel mounted.

Call your dealer and find out whether its like "stalk" i.e. indicator stalk or if its positioned on the steering wheel like the audio functions.

I have a cousin in the States who no doubt will be called upon to make a trip to his local Mazda dealer! Thankfully our dollar is holding against the US dollar.

Can anyone foresee problems getting the US spec cruise control mounted on the wheel? Surely this can be done, since all cars come out of Japan?

I've just sent an email to Mazda Australia asking them to find out if I can get the steering wheel cruise control and what the price will be.

IMO I think it makes the steering wheel look more balanced with controls on either side.

I don't use cruise control that often however it would be a nice to have, especially on long freeway drives.

The salesman I dealt with told me the stalk mounted CC was a bit dodgy and he'd seen them get broken off from the steering column.

I've just emailed Mazda Austalia too re a few concerns with options. I think we should all get in contact with them to start getting the options/features we want. OS options (esp. Japan) seem much better than those offered here. Without some pressure on them I can't see them offering any of that stuff here.

petition time! :D well not quite, but the option is there. alternatively we can vote with our feet and show them just how much money they can miss out on making if we all acquire our "accessories" from japan...

now we only need someone who actually runs a dealership to order these mods into the country... :?

I've thought about this. The mazdastuff web site (USA) seems to indicate its willing to do international delivery, but they're accessory list doesn't look that much different than ours. Unfortunately I don't know enough (i.e. any) Japanese to look for Japanese Mazda retailers.

Same... I'm only going to restart learning it later this year... At least this will give me some incentive to up the conversational level past the "Hello, how are you?" stage and straight to the "How much of a discount can you give me on the Kenstyle bodykit? and if I get the xenon headlights?" 8)

Actually, no matter how many times I told the dealer to CALL ME regarding car arrival date specifics (in order to take the time from work to pick it up late in the afternoon), they never did... *scum* ;) good luck with the email's sonic.
