I finally installed my CPE CAI last night - the car is gutless right now - which I was prepared for - how long did it take people until the ECU adjusted and got their power back? I miss it.
Re: CPE Cai - how long till you got your power back?
i remember when i did mine, i let her warm up and then i took her out and raped her...
you know i have MSCAI but it shouldnt be much different between the two
id say go put some miles on her and let it fix itself
Re: CPE Cai - how long till you got your power back?
yeah i let mine warm up for a few minutes after installing my MS CAI and then went out and had some fun, felt the power increase pretty much instantly.
Re: CPE Cai - how long till you got your power back?
I also installed my CPE yesterday and I dont notice any power loss...just a sucking noise, a little turbo spool and the stock BOV. IM going to ask a stupid question...to reset the ecu, do you just unhook the negative (black) cable fro the battery, or both? I had the black one unhooked for the entire install (about 4 hours with limited space and tools) and when I started the car I had to reset the clock and the radio stations, etc. So I assume I reset it by doing that, but I am wondering if that is correct?
Re: CPE Cai - how long till you got your power back?
I have the ms cai- when I first started ther car after install it idled rough for about 10 seconds then smoothed out. I let it idle for about 3 min. and took her out. It ran harder from the start. I even get 3 mpg better on the highway now. There is nothing like adding good hp + tq and get better mpg.
Re: CPE Cai - how long till you got your power back?
adding the CAI and resetting your ECU shouldnt have made your car any slower than stock..........unless there was an error installing the intake. Better check all your connections (especially your MAF sensor).

I am sure I could get better mileage if I laid off the zoom zoom juice but the rest you described was my exact experience with the MS CAI. Maybe there is an issue with the CPE Intake since it is different from the MS CAI.
Re: CPE Cai - how long till you got your power back?
I took her out for a rip last night, It's at least back to where it should be stock, maybe a bit more power, hard to say really........I really wish my dyno shop was open.......sounds like darth vader now.....
*pssshhhh* Use the boost luke *phaaaoooooshkah!!!!!!*
Re: CPE Cai - how long till you got your power back?
Ok took her out for a rip this afternoon - 1st and 2nd feel alot stronger in the midrange, but the car falls on it's face in 3rd and 4th - ???? I can't even scientifically explain why this would be? Any ideas?

As long as I"m in 3rd or higher the car still doesn't have the power it should.

Try a different gas station? I dont want to say its the CPE CAI for sure but if not the gas, I would look to it. Maybe trying going over the instructions and check each and every connection on the thing to make sure you did not miss something. I lost zero power with the MS CAI even though it shook and stutterted for a few seconds when I first started the car with it on. After that, more HP and TQ than my tires can handle.
Re: CPE Cai - how long till you got your power back?
That doesnt sound right bud! I installed my CPE on April 7th, I have no power loss in any gear. If I am getting on it a little, everytime I change from 2nd to 3rd, than 3rd to 4th I get shoved into the back of my seat...it is great! definitely check out the gas situation...im running 94 octane and no issues. If the issue persists, I would email cpe and see what they have to say.
Re: CPE Cai - how long till you got your power back?
hmmm, maybe you cleaning it did something to it? Im not sure how they work. I know that when i took mine out I was very gentle, and put it way out of harms way for the install....then when I reinstalled it I was extremely gentle. a $300+ mod should never decrease power output!!
