I want to open this thread as a discussion as well as a vote

I posted a poll on here before, but I have been thinking a lot since then. I like my mazda hatchback a lot. i rarely have issues with it (knock on wood) and I think I will keep it as a daily driver. I will probably not get a 328i or g35 sedan now.

SO, now Im looking for a toy instead. I will probably used it for some daily driving, but mostly weekends/nights.

Right now Im looking at these three cars: an AP2 s2000, a 350z, and a z4.

I love how the z4 looks, interior and exterior, but I'm not sure it will stack up to the performance of the other 2 cars
I test drove the 350z already. I dont think ANYONE can hate on that v6 that nissan/infiniti has. It's beautifully powerful, but Im not sure I want to afford myself into one with leather and all the whistles...
I have not test drove the s2000, but I was leaning towards it for a while.

Please let me know what you guys think. I'm not worried a lot about age, but I want a 2 seater under 80k miles.

also- I have mad respectz for the mazdaspeed 3, but it's just not what I'm looking for so please leave it out ;)

for fun:

350z:

3.5 L (210 cu in) VQ35DE V6 287 bhp (214 kW) 274 ft·lbf (371 N·m)
3100-3600 lbs

s2000:

237 bhp (177 kW; 240 PS) @ 7,800 rpm (US)
2800ish lbs

z4:
I would get the 3.0

Horsepower: 225 hp
Max Horsepower: 5900 rpm Torque: 214 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 3500 rpm Drive Type: RWD

sub 3000 lbs

I've wanted an r34 as long as I can remember :p, sadly I'm not sure I could find one in the US that is an affordable toy

I'm in a similar situation, sort of... Ever since getting my MZ3, I've wanted an MS3, but now I'm leaning towards ditching that option. I think it'd be nice to keep my hatch for its utility and decent milage, and get a used RWD coupe or roadster as a summer toy car. Oddly enough, yesterday I did an autotrader search for a 350Z, S2000, and a Mazda Miata (and a few others for fun). It's easy to find a used one with realatively low milage for 15k. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the cars you've listed.

only 2f2f if u start modding n get all crazy with them... but thoes cars are so much nicer. I like older cars much better than whats around now,

350's are so ugly, everything about that car is just so ugly looking.
even the older fairladys were ugly

dont get me wrong i like the z4 its an amazing car, but there's better for the price... all the cars i listed i would much rather have than a z3 anyday of the week (personally, just thought id share those)

who would honestly take a z4 over a R34 ?

^doubt that.

What if he wants Left hand drive? Or something that isn't a total pain in the ass to aquire?

R34's are cool, but is getting one here in the states feasable or practical?

reallllyyyy, I'd love to hear how

and, either way, thanks for the input- I really am more interested in the 3 I listed above though, than a 90's import

I'd say go with the Z. Getting a two seater car is impractical enough as it is. If you are going to get one at least make it the larger and more powerful of the three. I've also read a lot about S2000 snap oversteer in Grassroots (I think). Plus you can't beat that VQ exhaust note. :p

Yeah the VQ engine is very very good but the 350Z has a problem and is the biggest enemy on any car: weight. I know it weights well over 3500 pounds with leather and all that, so don't expect a real sporty feeling out it. Compare that with a curb weight of just 2800 pounds from the S2000 and you can just guess by now what is there to expect. I don't know just a small thought. Why do you think they had to make the 370Z smaller and lighter.

He doesn't need practicality since he's keeping his 3. This is a "weekend toy" I believe.

The S2000 is the purest of the three for a pure performance drive. The Z4 is quite good as well, but if you get one with the Active Steering, forget it. It's like driving an arcade game.

The 350 is a good car. It's room, quick, and handles well. However, it's got a crappy interior, it's too heavy to really hustle it, and I'm not sure they fixed that camber issue problem the first few years were plagued with.
