i have a 2008 mazda axela 1.5l hatchback and want to take out the stock air intake and replace it with a cold air intake. how do I manage it without breaking anything

I thought it was just an intake with a filter but I wanted to relocate it entirely so that the airflow doesn't go on top of the engine

In your case that's pretty much it. The newer Skyactiv engine had a little more thought into the air intake/filter system but even they have short comings not cooling the intake air charge if the throttle plate % was less then 45%. The engine compartment heat at low vehicle speeds would heat the intake charge. At best the intake charge would normally run about 10 degrees higher than the ambient temperatures. More so during summer months and the use of the AC.
In you case I would also have to ask what you are hoping to gain? Looks ( a cleaner looking engine compartment) and sound is about all you may end up achieving?
