civics and focus' trying to race too much

Nope, most are completely oblivious. Especially with the new 3's taking some styling from the MS version.

although I know you don't street race (which is a good idea) but if you come to one of dumb asses at a stop light and they wanna mess around...you should just burn the HELL out of them until you hit 60mph (which they will still be far in your rear view) and that would be the end of it and they can start feeling stupid. Another reason why I like the speed3...Its pretty close in design to a regular 3 that if you don;t know what to look for, you can make a big mistake. Being foci and civics like to stay in their own world, 90% of them wont know the diff. Take advantage of their stupidity

i had a guy in a base mazda3 sedan go completely apeshit on me when he saw i was driving a mazdaspeed3. i was waiting at a light and he comes up behind me just normally and we're waiting there a bit like any other normal person. then he sees i'm driving a mazdaspeed3, and rushes up right next to me and starts bouncing his engine off the limiter. light turns green he takes off, chirping his wheels. it's not like he was offering to race me, he was just plain enraged or something. i don't get it. :dunno:

haven't been challenged by any hondas or focuses or anything yet. the mazdaspeed3 is anonymous. i did tail a guy a couple weeks back driving a brand new mercedes slk55 amg who apparently was so enamored with his new purchase (new dealer tags still on) he was gunning it faster and faster from each successive stoplight. i was curious to see how the mazda would keep up, and i'm sure he was suprised to see a $22k econohatch right on his tail every time.

haha i have just the opposite problem! i just got my second mistake today with people thinking my regular 3 hatch is a speed... they see the angel eyes and hear my exhaust and their like :shock: is that a speed3?!

I get that a lot from people too. Since mine is an 07 it looks almost identical to a speed 3. And it's true red, the only color advertised in the commercials. If you want a comparison pic just click on my sig and you'll see what I'm talking about. I don't get that many focuses and civics trying to race me though, it's more people with their base level audis and vw's. Don't ask me why.

Once in a while. I ignore the morons.

I've had a couple of people mention that they saw that I had the new Mazda, but I don't know that they know whats hiding under the hood. I did have one guy I work with actually find me to talk about the car, but he has a Speed6, so he's in the know. I was talking to another guy and he did not know the MS3 was turboed. I like the sleeper look, I don't have to deal with all the ricer kids wanting to try to prove themselves....

I have been flying totally under the radar in this car. I've only been challenged by a heavily modded SRT-4, but it was winter and the guy couldn't get traction (or so he said), so nothing really happened. I could hear his turbo spooling like crazy, even with my windows closed. I know a lot of you guys hate the SRT-4, and I've never been in one, but this one was a maroon red w/ carbon fiber hood and looked freakin' badass.

I'm actually waiting for a ricer to challenge me just for some fun putting them in their place.

I did have a brand new GTI rev up on me at a light. I had my wife and brother in-law with me and I didn't want to pay him any mind with them in the car not to mention that the ticket is not worth the thrill BUT, to my surprise my wife looked over at me and asked "You gonna let him punk you?" Couldn't really do that. So the light turned green and I let it rip. Damn, I love my speed3. He kept up for a brief second, that soon changed through 2nd gear. Once I shifted into 3rd he was behind by a quite a bit. Might of been a bad driver but who knows. At the next light I rolled my window down to try and bullshit with him for a sec but he wouldn't even look at me. O'well.

They should start making speed 3 sedan so sedan folks can hopefully scare some of these kids away.....Last time I went to Saskatoon, I was challenged by a white early 90s' civic at a light, but I just let him do his stupid thing, reving his engine. If that civic is moded or a si, he might beat me since I only have a 3i, but I don't care just because my car is newer, nicer & more comfortable than his...may I say...piece of junk. Most importantly, street racing is stupid during winter...

The one time it was nice enough down here to drive with the windows down a guy in a Focus SVT rolled up to me so we were both door to door going 45mph down the road and asked "Hey wanna race!?".

Other than that, I had one cool encounter...sorta. I was at Dunkin' Donuts and a Silver Sunlight Mazda3 Sedan backed into the spot next to me (Silver Sunlight Speed3). He had a Axela badge and a Shoshinsha mark on his window. When he came out of the Dunkin' Donuts (I was still eating he got his to go) he took out his camera phone and snapped a shot of our cars together! Kinda cool, I thought.

I also saw a driver of a lowered Mazda3 Sedan with a exhaust and aftermarket wheels slow down and look at my car for a second when I was in a turn lane once. I've seen him around, but never had a chance to actually talk with him and see if he posts here.
