Hey I have had my Mazda 3 since 2004 and it is now out of warranty. During the time I have had my check engine light come on numerous times and each time the dealer told me it was the gas cap or they downloaded new software. There answer always seemed to be the gas cap no matter how many times I turned it. Well the light came on again and I don't want to take it to the dealership to have them charge me to reset it and tell me the same story. Does anyone know how to reset the check engine light? Or does any one know what the codes mean when the odometer button is held down and the ignition is turn to accessory position? Thanks for the help.

you may be able to take it to autozone and have them scan the code for you. Once you get the code you can research what it is and go from there.

Before you have to pay $$ for the dealership or get a scan tool.

i went to advanced auto parts and they coudnt scan my car. had error connecting.

our car OBD communicate through a CAN network.

maybe their scan tool is not CAN compatable.
