OK, so the question I have here is:

It's been almost 5 months since my last oil change but I've logged only 4000 miles during that span. I used an oem mazda cartridge filter and Castrol 5w-20. Is it ok to drive another month or should I change the oil/filter? I know the manual has intervals of 7,500 miles.

Mazda has two different schedules for service (normal & severe). Most people fall under the severe schedule which requires oil changes every 5K miles.

With that said, and with the fact that you don't drive a lot, I would recommend changing your oil every 5K or 6 months, whichever comes first. This will keep the Mazda folks happy and it will keep your 3 happy.
