Has anyone used them? If so, did they get you a good deal? From what I can read on their website, they are like the discountbrokers site.

GraqZ - Never heard of carbroker.com.au but there have been a few good threads on negotiating tips and buying through online discounters. Also carbrokers want $19.95 for the job whereas http://www.discountnewcars.com.au will do it for free but they don't have a standard discount currently and in my experience just sent an email to the nearest participating dealer and asked them to call you.

Dealing with the Dealers - good info from Samps.

Common opinion seems to be that dealers aren't willing to discount however we're starting to see some good deals come through if you're willing to haggle and do the research.

I didn't use them, but used the information on their web site to gain a "profile" of these car dealers, their tools and tricks etc. I wish I took the list to the dealership and ticked each trick off as it happened... kinda like playing bingo! It's a good idea to have an understanding of the sort of things they will try to pull on you. I bought a car a couple of years ago from a friend who happened to be dealer, and after reading through this list I quickly realised he screwed me over (not really much of a friend at all! :().

I spoke to a fleet buyer before ordering and he gave me the impression minimal gains could be made right now. However, he could have ordered the cars I wanted from interstate dealers immediately. In the end I went with a local dealer who tried dealer swaps (which none of the interstate dealers want to do ATM) and now I'm waiting until the end of March. I could have had my 3 by now!

I'll be giving these guys a go shortly - allegedly they're pretty big and they have reasonable comments about them from third parties:

http://www.privatefleet.com.au/

I think it's about $180 to get a 'best price' - more expensive than carbroker.com.au for sure but if they can't get you a better price than what you already have they refund it. Or something like that - will provide more info once I get going with them.

Also, here's another site on dealer tips and tricks:

Got $32,490 for an SP23 manual hatch on-road with bonnet protector, headlight protectors and slimline weathershields. Saved about $500 off RRP taking into account the PrivateFleet fee.

The dealer was 'Southwest Motors Group', which I think is Warrnambool Mazda ...

Does that mean you have to go to Warnambool to pick it up??

Nope [ :D ] - standard condition is deliver to my door (Glen Iris), with a full tank of petrol.

From what I gathered talking to the PrivateFleet people, they get tenders for all round the country and it doesn't really matter exactly which one wins, as they'll all deliver to your door.

However it's a bit better at least having the dealer in Victoria, as I know where to find them if it all goes pear-shaped ...

Besides, a trip to Warnambool, via the Great Ocean Road in your SP23 wouldnt be so bad if you had to 'find' them, anyways!!! :)

I think it's important to meet one's dealer, no ? :D

Might save that for a little later in the year though - August weather in Victoria not always picture-perfect of course !

Doesn't seem like they discounted the drive-away price much

Full drive-away RRP was about $33,125, so discount was about $635 (and I had to pay $178 to get this).
