Can I take out the Sirius tuner that came with my Mazda and put in an XM one and have it work with the factory HU?

I noticed the HU button says SAT, not Sirius. So I'm guessing this should be possible?

My guess is no, the tuner is what sends the data to the head unit and is specially designed for Mazda.
That's my guess because they make Tuners specific for Pioneer systems, etc.

i wish they would make them the same, but unfortunately they are not.

what a pain in the ass this is. the HU I want to put in, doesn't do sat radio. the HU that does to sat radio is no where near OEM looking like the one that doesn't do sat radio.

So the choice is either do the HU that doesn't look OEM, which from the pics looks very weird when in installed, or install the OEM looking one and mount an additonal XM receiver.
