Can it be done? Theoretically. But you will need a complete donor car. It's not just the engine, it's the PCM, BCM, TCM (if automatic), complete wiring harness, including the wiring inside of the car, you'll need a new instrument cluster, and on and on and on. The only things you can use from the MZ3 is pretty much the body panels, steering, and seats.

Mazdaspeed is so utterly different from Mazda, it's considered not just a separate model, it's a seperate make.

Car and Driver magazine tried to put a MS3 engine into a MZ5, and even they couldn't get it right.

Ok that’s what I thought smh guess I have to sell that old girl just sucks cause I just did a lot of work to this car. But I want a speed so I guess this my only option
Why not throw a 2.5 in the car? If the engine is tired but the car is in relatively good condition (e.g. No body damage, intact glass, no rust/rot) then a 2.5 would be a good alternative. Turbocharged engines sound great until maintenance or repair$ are involved.

Why not just sell your car and put the money toward buying a MazdaSpeed3? This solution will be better, happen quicker, and will cost you a heck of a lot less in the end.

Agree with the 2.5 swap. It works great, is very inexpensive, and is worlds more reliable than a turbo 2.3. Mazdaspeeds might be fun and all, but unless you love to tinker and constantly fix things or replace subpar OEM components with aftermarket parts they are not for you.

I already have the 2.5 in my hatchback it runs great I’m just trying to get the most power I can out of it . Mods so far I have a 2015 2.5 engine that has 22000 miles now but when I put it in it only had 15000.I have shortram intake . I grounded the throttle body I am in process of ordering a new exhaust just haven’t decided which or if I’m going to get headers too. For like 1000 I can get headers and exhaust. I want to get a mod chip but I don’t know how they work or what to get.any advice? I know I can get a lot more power out of her I just don’t know what to do. I was thinking about getting the thing from Cobb that helps with the No throttle response . Cause I hate how I can feel no response when I mash the gas. All I know is I know the car more into it how can I get it there idk I’m trying

I'm going to be dead serious here. If you want to go fast, actually fast, you're starting with the completely wrong platform.

You need to pick up a state auction cop Camaro. The B4C police packages have all the same running gear as the 1LE, but adds A/C and a radio.

Take that UBER cheap car, freshen the motor with new bearings for reliability ($50), and a new cam ($250), and you're well north of 450hp. For a total all-in price of a out $5000 tops. Probably not even that much.

You’re limited on making the car faster but you can do things to make the car feel quicker with things like suspension or just stickier tires. Motor mounts even give the car a better feel if the NVH doesn’t bother you.

The biggest bang for the buck that actually gives a real performance increase is to fit MZ5 rear brakes and MS3 front brakes.

And, if you have a manual transmission, use the rear motor mount from a Ford Focus Electric. Not the regular Focus, it has to be the Focus Electric. You'll need the Ford bolt, too.

Yes I completely forgot about speed brakes up front and mz5 rear and I have them both on my 3. Don’t even have to get fancy with high performance pads and rotors as the much bigger pads and rotors make a huge difference. I can’t find them anymore but white line used to make a poly insert for the rear motor Mount that I got for $12 and the corksport transmission mount insert does with with a normal 3 even though it says speed.

You need to consider what exactly you want to achieve? Going faster what does that mean to you?
As they say in Heavy Metal American Muscle Cars... "SPEED COSTS HOW FAST DO YOU WANT TO GO?".

The first thing you should be doing is a complete health check of the engine. Then inspect and replace any and all worn suspension parts, then move to the brake's same thing. Once that is done you need to find a source to be able to access your ECU for Calibration adjustments. (NO CANNED TOONS! ) All the GO_FAST parts won't mean sheeet if you cant utilize there attributes and that can only be done with a custom calibrated ECU.

The biggest increase in power comes from the head. Does not matter what induction system you use. This is a carefully planned build consisting of porting, component choice and camshaft specifications.

Then comes the transmission.
Either manual or Automatic the first thing to be done is to have a sample of the oil analyzed. Then you will at least know a large portion of the inside condition of the transmission.

IMHO exhausts, intake and so-called chips are not the best first choice in wise money spent. At least in the bigging of making a car go quicker or faster.

Good luck with your project.

I remember to this day getting in my first 2008 to drive away from the dealership and having it scare the crap out of me when I stepped on the gas. It was totaled a couple of years later and I bought a used one with more stuff in it. No response is not how I would have described either of them. Currently driving a 2019. I've driven a lot of 4 cylinder cars and most of them required that I get the car moving before I could stomp it and expect it to go. That has not been the case with any of my Mazda 3's. We also have a 2019 F-150, and a 2019 Mustang GT, both with the 5 liter 8. The one I like best is the one I'm driving at the time. Yes, the Mustang is faster. But I feel no disappointment when I go back to the Mazda. It gets driven far more than the other two. If I need it to get up and change lanes in a hurry coming out of a stop light, it does it. If, as in the case of the second 08, I need to pass a parade of 5 cars and a truck pulling a trailer on a 2-lane road in west Florida, it does it. I guess everyone's needs are different. But the stock Mazda 3 does anything I ask of it.

I just do it much quicker than most in a Mazda's. A quick 50 shot of N2O does it very well. ;)

Except carry two people, two 50-60 lb dogs, travel gear, and provide a place for us to sleep in the back. Sometimes you just need a truck.
well aside from owning and passengerIng dogs and a place to sleep (I could lay the back seat down??lol) I may beat you on the extra weight. I have over 350lbs or sound deadening material and very upgraded stereo system...:)

I don't want to talk about stereo. Well, actually, I do. I just want a different answer than the one Mazda gave in response to my complaint about mine. I am extremely unhappy about it and I can't even get rid of it because it's designed into the interior of the car. I'm not ready to let it rest though. It's about time to yank their chains some more.
