Hey there...
This is the first time I will be changing the 06 Mazda 3i rear brake pads for my fiance and I've only changed my '00 Mustang and '03 Cobra brake pads. Anyways, I noticed that some pads come w/ a clip while another does not. I checked www.rockauto.com and they gave me numerous rear brake pad brands and part# and a couple of pics where 2 rear brake pads are not the same (one having a clip on top while the other brand/part# does not). Anyways, can anyone steer me to the correct part#? Here's the link: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php

Yeah, there's been some discussion on that.

Basically, the ones with the spring on top come on the 06+ and some later 05's. The ones with the wire clips on the back come on 04's, early 05's, and MS3's. Here's a good thread with more info.

The rear Hawk HPS pads I ordered from streetunit actually came with both the top spring and clips.

I e-mailed Hawk and they said they made a change and are now including both sets of hardware in the 478 part number. It may be a new revision to the part number, so depending on where you order it, they may have an older revision in stock.

That linked thread has a couple pictures I put up of the rear pad and the box it came in for part# reference.

You can clearly see both the top spring and the clips.

Did you all resurface your rear rotors before installing the new rear brake pads? I'm just going to go to Autozone and order a Duralast rear brake pad since the car is meant mainly for a DD, not a performance vehicle w/ forced induction.

Anyone here ever bought Autozone brand pads? If so, what's your preference since they come w/ a lifetime warranty.
