Okay, all you whacky modders, the MS6 guys are leading the way and have uncovered a silent code that is triggered by "overboost". Read all about it: http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=68736&st=0. See post #8 for the data in the code. I don't know if I completely understand the issue, but what I can gather is that if boost is too high (presumably for x amount of time and not just a spike), it triggers a fuel cutoff and records the silent code.

This has apparently has been the basis for more than one warranty claim denial, including the poor kid whose "buddies" at a local garage put in a downpipe for him and then fried his clutch, presumably while "test driving" the car. Although it appears there were probably plenty of other reasons to deny his claim (serious unreverted power mods), the regional rep seized on the overboost codes and, for some odd reason, the installation of an aftermarket BOV. http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=68303. These guys say the code can be cleared without a trace, but I'll leave that determination to the rest of you.

This has been an issue for a number of power mods on the MS6, including (IIRC) downpipes. So, if you're gonna do anything that could make that tiny turbo spin faster than one bar, study up. There are a number of threads on the causes and attempted solutions for the fuel cut issue in the MS section of mazda6club.

Cobb should be able to clear the codes - well - if they can locate it and program it to clear it.

havent read the top post pointing to the other forum but it sounds similar to a guy here in australia who has an HKS BOV fitted. They said it "overboosted" when reading off there diagnostic box and to run the stock BOV to see what happens.

So have Mazda made a car that will make massive gain from easy bolt on mods but through up errors when doing so? pretty clever thinking lol - im sure thats not the case.............

A lot of those modded sp6 guys are running Boost controllers thougth. Mostly Manuel. They seem to like like to run 17psi over there so this is likely some of the issue. Cold weather can cause higher spikes and such. 290whp at 15psi is plenty for us though. For a couple weeks anyway.

Yeah, until you can afford more parts. Then it's not enough.

14.50377 psi = 1 bar...therefore the car runs more than 1 bar from the factory...so i hope you mean more than 1.2 bar(roughly 18psi at sea level)

That's what I get for relying on mags for info. :) I read somewhere that the car ran at 1 bar, but they probably meant 1.1, or 15.954147, the stock setting.
