Its Ok. They probably do have something to hide. B/C after that one year mark, it seemed to go down hill from there. But, really, I don't trust the laser scrambler part anymore even though the indicator light shows it's working. I am just taking it easy until I get the Valentine. I know when I turn them both on while parked near each other, the Bel detector in my other car goes crazy, showing full laser strength detection. STRANGE :?

I had several occasions where I believed it was working and so did the confused officers. It actually works decent as a detector only, now. But, it is an expensive "detector only." If I would have known the scrambler part would have stopped working I would've bought the Valentine first. I bought it before I had my mazda and did not hear any negative feedback about it at that time. But, that's how we learn this stuff, from Personal Experience.

Bel XR65 is the best and cheaper than the valentine... the escort stuff is garbage and the cobra stuff is a joke.

The bel did better in testing than the valentine and whooped the escort in every catagory.

can get one for about $220 online

Escort and Bel products are both made by the same company. It's tough to say one is a joke and the other isnt since they are essentially the same now; they just have different features. Cobra stuff still is a joke, and V1 still has the best sensitivity of any RD out there.

I've got an escort SR-7+ and it's by no means junk. For all intents the X50, Bel and V1 are equal. The V1 is overpriced and not that advanced anymore, If i had to buy now I would actually go with the Bel STI because it's the new cream of the crop. They all tested nearly the same with each just having little features that the others don't.

I would go with the escort 9500i. THAT is the cream of the crop. But then again it all depends on the features you are looking for. Do you want a stealthy detector or do you want less false alerts.

That test was done in 2005, Beltronics and escort merged in 2006 and they both use the same antenna in their detectors, the only difference is features. There really is no difference between the detectors performance except features and the DSP.

Doesnt matter... the Bel is better, no matter how you look at it... i have seen multiple tests that outrank the bel over the escort.... sorry you are trying to find excuses why yours insnt the best or cream of the crap.

I don't own any detector so I don't have a biased view.

If you dont own one.. why are you even talking about it... i have the RX65, so i know from experience how it works.. not just reading a magazine or website. Its like recommending speakers to someone without hearing them at all.

I've used the x50, the V1, two Whistlers, ridden with a cobra, and the only one I have never driven with was an rx65. I never said the rx65 wasnt the best, merely that the real world performance of the two detectors is almost identical.

If I sound like I know what I am talking about it's because I do. I've spent tons of time using and researching detectors, I really dislike getting pulled over. The only reason I have yet to buy one is because I was waiting for the GPS enabled detectors to come out.

here is one link to see how the Bel is better than the escorts... just cause it costs the most, doesnt mean its better

To be perfectly honest, I think the reviewers of that site are paid off by belscort. They show such huge discrepancies between the sti and V1 as compared to other reviewers. I am a bit skeptical of that site you posted, I'd trust the results from speed measurement labs much more, which is the link that operator just posted.

Bel and Escort actually merged about 3-4 years ago. I had a RX65 (sold it in early 2005 to buy car parts) and it had the same "smart cord" that was found with Escort detectors.

There were some aspects of the RX65 that I wasn't all impressed with. Should I purchase another detector again in the future, it'll definitely be a V1. I can tolerate a slightly chatty detector as long as it reliably alerts every time.
