I got the rear lip spoiler, cargo net, wheel locks, and above all else: block heater.

I'm not sure where you live (you should put that in your profile), but here in Ottawa a block heater is a must for winter.

As for rubber mats; I went to Canadian Tire and picked up a pair of $15 generic mats which fit pretty well, and really hold the water and dirt well.

Werd:

This is what I'd recommend for you:

GFX package
Rear lip spoilage
Tinted windows

That is all. Leather looks good, but I'm telling you it's not good quality and will not last.
Thank you for shopping at mazda3forums.com

PS: Stay AWAY from the mats. The gas pedal sticks to the rubber mat giving you constant linear acceleration. If you like that kind of thing, please spend your $108 happily, but you might not be able to stop the car in gear.

Don't get me wrong, it can be fun at times. I've learned to shut off the engine, keep driving, unstick the pedal, turn the car back on. Then of course the power steering fails, so I slow to 30km/h so that the electro-hydraulic is forced to kick back in, then speed up. It's cool!

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the relies.

It pains me to hear about the leather, I really want it. So I will choose to block out that suggestion.

Regarding tinting... Is it better to get it at the dealer, or should someone go outside?

What do you think about the rear-view-mirror-compass thermometer thing?

Are there any options that will make me more popular with the ladies? :D

Get the tinting done at a shop that does auto-glass or custom audio/tint and has a good rep... the dealer will just outsource the job to the lowest price shop they have an arangement with anyway. Unless it's mechanical work on the car, the service department usually won't touch it.

If we had the choice here in Canada, I would like to equip mine as such:

2.0
MT
A/C
PWR DR+WD
ABS+EBFD
SAB and SAC
FOGS
17" WHEELS
MOONROOF

I want the 17" wheels but without the GFX. I don't care for Xenons, TPMS, 6CD changer, spoilers, NAV, but I want the airbags and a moonroof.

Maybe in a year or 2 it will become available.

I'm surprised no one has said ABS yet... that's a pretty important option (at least to me).
GT comes with ABS in Canada. That's the model Mark_Edm has in mind.

The Safety Package is a must, as are the bigger wheels and tires. They make it such a better handling car. As for the other options, the only options I passed on were NAV and leather, and I still debate in my mind about the NAV. The leather just wasn't worth the money to me, since the cloth interior is so nice and the leather isn't heated for cold mornings and cooled/ventilated on hot days (black leather in SoCal scream out for ventilation). For dealer options, I say skip just about everything save wheel locks and cargo net. These give you a bit of piece of mind and convenience.

ABS is just par for the course up here so that's probably why some didn't mention it. ;)

As far as dealer options go I have the:

Non-Smokers Ashtray (complete joke, if you get it, make sure they pay for it).

Cargo Net (Whether for sedan or hatch it's worth the money)

Wheel Locks (Not entirely sure long run how helpful they are but for $30 or so it's cheap insurance if you will).

I don't own one in this car but the auto diming mirror is definitely really great.

While I only got ABS and the moonroof the ideal options for me would be :

1. ABS
2. Sport Package (17s and side stills)
3. Xenon
I'd have taken the Xenons if they were an option here in Canada. Unfortunately, they aren't.

As cowtown stated, stay away from the ashtray replacement compartment. It's a complete waste of money. Even my dealer told me that (which was nice, because I probably would've gotten one otherwise).
