I feel the need to post after doing much research and one successful auto transmission swap.
I put a 2010 5 speed automatic transmission into my 2008 mazda 3 s. The part #s are different and the engine displacement is different.
06-09 5 speed automatic transmissions are a Mazda part # fsk00 2.3 engine
10-13 5 speed automatic transmissions are a Mazda parts # fsk30 2.5 engine
The later model transmission works fine in my 2008, different axles must be used. no problem fitting and plugging in the wiring. I did use my TCM from 2008. Not sure if the later TCM will cooperate with the earlier year ECM.
The only difference is the transcooler inlet pipe, not a big deal.
I also think a 5 speed auto from a 2.0 2010- 2013 mazda 3 i will work. The Torque converter #s are different, is all I can see.
Mazda part # fsk40 2.0 engine.
Very abundant and inexpensive.
My hope was the improved/ and or beefed up the transmission, plus the are cheaper and easier to find from junk yard/ ebay.
Hope this helps some DIY guys out there zoom zooming, LOL
