Meh. Still doesn't quite pass the bang for bucks test IMO when you get into options...

I wonder how it stacks up against the new r32 coming out...

Probably faster. I don't see why VW would create the same car twice, and then make one cheaper. Kind of like when Dodge and Plymouth made Neons. Made no damn sense.

Something like that. They shared the same Haldex AWD at least. I thought it was closer to the S4 myself, but I could be wrong.

Something tells me it's not supposed to be a bang-for-your-buck kind of vehicle...

The people who usually purchase something like this have enough money to be able to afford the namepate.

The "bang for buck" test is still valid IMO irrespective of the price point - people still want value, even if they are making a purchase based in large part on nameplate (although admittedly less so :) if that is truely the case).

I wouldn't want those designers anywhere near a mazda, that thing is hideous. There's no reason for that grill to be that big. IMO, if the bumper went straight across the front (where the license plate is), it would look so much better.

funny my buddy called me the other day and talked to me about this...

he was like MS3 what? s3 this

( he works at audi/porche dealership)

He told me to trade in the MS3 .... buy the S3 and then let him turn up the boost a few pounds...

I had no idea the S3 was available here. Audis are trash anyway.... very poor reliability. I had an A4 that went through 2 quarts of oil in the first 5000 miles. Dealer told me it was 'normal.' IMO eating 2 quarts of oil on ANY car is abnormal. Worst car I ever owned in terms of reliability.
