A 7" driver would probably need some decent modification to the composite door panel. Many of the cutout diameters for 7" drivers are larger than what you can enlarge the stock speaker opening to accomodate.

The 6.5" driver from my Rainbow Germaniums required modifying the stock opening slightly (had to enlarge it .25-.375"), even with the driver mounted on a .5" MDF baffle. This was very easily accomplished with the handy, dandy, Dremel.

As far as speaker adapters, if you have access to jigsaw and/or router, just pick up some MDF at Lowe's or wherever and make them yourself.

Some 6.5s have an oversized basket. I had to cut that plastic speaker hole out alittle to get mine to fit. Not a big deal at all. 7" should be easy enough as long as it doesnt have an absurd amount of depth to it.

3\4 inch MDF spacers work for my rainbows, probably best thing to do is mess with it til it works.

ohh and btw, I made a 1/2" thick adaptor plate out of wood to make it fit the 5x7 hole and I didn't have to do any additional cutting. I was suprised because those speakers are a lot bigger than your standard 6.5" basket.

Which speakers did you have in mind?

That's strange.

My 6.5" Germaniums required me to slightly open up the stock opening by about 3/8" with them mounted on a 1/2" MDF plate.
