I think the new Mazda 6 looks very nice. It is larger and supposedly more refined than the old one.

Has anyone test driven one? Is anyone interested in one?

I ended up buying the new Jetta TDI over the new 6 for the wife. Nice car, but it's big and, well, the gas mileage was maybe half the TDI's

I test drove one when I test drove a speed3. It's very nice. Feels better than my Fusion. All in all, I would recommend it.

BTW - it doesn't compare to a Jetta. It compares to a passat.

WTF

How can so say one car doesn't compare to another when there are the same damn price? I guess you don't understand VW and how they market their cars. They sort of float between "classes"

So you tell me what a loaded Jetta TDI compares to? Don't say a Civic, cause that's about $6K less in Canada.

So I guess a BWM 3 series also compares to a Civic Cause they are the same "size".... ?

When car shopping, the car that best suits your own needs should be purchased. That's just what you did. And that's fine.

All I am saying is this, "Generally when comparing cars, you look at cars with similar sizes and characteristics." The 6 is more comparable to the Camry, Accord, Fusion, Passat and Altima. You decided to go with a Jetta... good for you, they're a great car.... I just don't find it to be comparable to the 6.

I'd only consider the Mazda 6 with a 6-cylinder... The 4-cylinders are awful.
I'm talking about pre-2009 models.
I have not yet had the chance to drive a new one yet. Probably won't, I hate the way they look.

yes a jetta tdi would compare to a top line civic.. if they made a diesel civic, they would be almost equals in terms of class.

sure as hell doesnt compare to a mazda6. lol

if mazda boosted up the price of the 3 by 6,000 would it compare to a suburban? lol

My dad bought an 08 6 4 cyl. Looked at the 3 but with two kids 11 & 9 there was no leg room for them so he had to go up three digits.

I like the looks of new 6 as well. I haven't driven, looked at one at the dealer though. I thought the center armrest felt a little cheap and not in place well, but otherwise it was pretty nice.

Fully loaded though pushes it into about the price of an Acura TL or G37.

I was looking at one with I believe every option, and it barely top 30k without any incentives.

I went to the dealership to see what they could give me one for. I ended up getting my 09 hatch instead. I was looking at the 4cyl models because they get a very respectable 29mpg and they have a large tank that allows them to make 500 mile trips on a single tank of gas.

When I saw it in person I was kind of thrown off though. My 3 looks much better than the new 6.

I was looking at 3's at a dealer's site and saw that they had a new 09 Mazda6 SV for $15,999. I'm thinking what a freakin deal, and then when I looked up the specs I saw that it doesn't come with cruise. WTH, Mazda? No cruise on a midsize sedan???
