I bought my black mica '07 m3i for the aggresive yet clean lines the car exhibits. i am by no means downing body kits, as they lend a much racier edge to a capable platform. i also think the car benefits from dropped springs and bigger wheel/tire combos. My '07 is stock (and will be until out of warranty) and i still grin when i walk up to it in a parking lot. It is just a great look... racy yet refined. I will be doing some mods after warranty but none of them will involve the bodywork...

there are several people here that feel the same way you do.

for me and my hatch, a lip and different front grill will be all i do cosmeticly.

Same here. Might get different tail lights, but they aren't as important as the above two.

i love the stock bodywork. no doubt. the only additions i might be making are a lip and a grille, that is about it. not a fan of the bodykits available, they don't compliment the lines at all.

damn, you guys replied before i could.

Hahaha. I agree about the bodykits, too. They suck, IMO.

they're just so ugly. with the exception of the mazdaspeed kit on the hatch, i don't really like any of the treatments available right now. not even the autoexe. it just seems like the key word in most bodykit designer's philosophy is "vents". 100 vents does not an attractive bodykit make.

now, the sedan is a different story. a couple look good in my eyes, like the extreme dimensions kit as well as the accolade gtvr (to a point). i think the sedan is way more kit-friendly than the hatch.

You ever see the AutoExe CF lip kit? I'd hit that, but sooooooo much freakin' money. Not to mention if you got it ruined, well...

I agree, I also have a 3i and don't like the kits. Love the plain look. I bought a kit....just a modified "S" setup....still sitting in my garage and will never be put on.

I'm with you all the way smiler82, I think Mazda did a fine job on the styling and design of the 3. The 3 doesn't NEED any aftermarket body work IMO, so it's all based on the owners preferences in appearance. I wouldn't shoot down aftermarket body work either, but I do think that most body kits out there are pitiful and lame. I DO think it's hard to find a GOOD aftermarket body kit for any car, let alone the 3.

SO... if you (anyone) can find what you think is the perfect body kit to COMPLIMENT (not replace) Mazda's stock styling and design, I would love to see it! I've only seen one body kit on a Black hatch on here, but I can't remember who's it was or what kind of body kit it was.

yea i might make a few mods before warranty is up, but not without getting the go ahead IN WRITING from my asshole dealership. Again, I'm not against bodkits, some of them look wicked, with dropped springs and 18's the car can look like a rocket. I just prefer the stock BMW 3series look. Once my 3 is out of warranty i would love to see what kind of boost that 2.0 can take... the volume of aftermarket parts available is already making me itch...

i love the lines on the 2.3's... the 2.0(what i have) just doesn't have much to offer. i would love to have the rear skirts from a 2.3 and the GV lip for the i model... sexiness.

i agree with u guys..i had an accord with bodykits and dropped once..it was horrible..scraping all the time and it was a lot heavier..the 3 has a very nice design..the only cosmetic changes i would do is the gv lip..mintblue eyelids..auto exe grille..led tails..and drop..of course rims and new tires..it'll look dead on sexy like that and nothing more

OEM++++++++++++ styling / theme here, so I will not touch or augment any extra exterior body mods.

Never really liked aftermarket bodykits. They don't lend themselves as reasonable for a dropped daily driver and the theme of the day tends to become a fad in a matter of a couple of years (i.e. - shogun style from 5-6 years ago). I'll stick to OEM+..... elegant, enduring & conservative. ;)
